Fulham McGoldrick Offer Claim
Sunday, 25th May 2014 09:10

Fulham are targeting Town striker David McGoldrick, according to reports.

The recently-relegated Cottagers, who on Friday released nine players, are planning a swoop for the Blues' 26-year-old 16-goal top scorer, reported Saturday's Irish Sun.

According to The Sun on Sunday the Londoners are reported to be ready to make an offer of £2 million, a figure which is unlikely to tempt the Blues.

McGoldrick, who was understood to be interesting Crystal Palace and Swansea in January, signed a two-year-old contract last summer having been released by Nottingham Forest, but it’s understood that that deal also included an option for a further season.

The Town frontman, who revealed his qualification for the Republic of Ireland earlier this year, will be back in action in pre-season having been sidelined since February with a knee injury.

Just what I didn't want to hear.

With arguably our best player on the last year of his contract (possible one year extention aside), management need to address his contract situation with the minimum of delay. If he does not want to commit to an extention, then we all need to face up to the real possibility of him being sold, given that he has transfer value and is sure to be linked with other clubs.

However, we are not at that situation yet, so lets hope he will be with us for next season and beyond.

Not sure why McGoldrick would want to go there to be honest, i can't see him leaving, not for a championship club anyway

Would be a sideways step for him to a side who may change manager soon. Can't see it happening myself

So how could this be seen as career progressing move for McGoldrick? Id be surprised if he left us for Fulham.

Although Murphy did an admirable job In Mcgoldricks absence, he and the other strikers do not have the same quality or goal threat. Realise we may need to sell in order to bring in players, but we can't afford to lose Mcgoldrick.

Can't see it myself. He'd cost quite a bit after his successful spell here and then, even if we accepted a bid, would he want to leave for a team in the same league?

Whilst he's had a great season and has been our top player, do you see him replicating that next season?? Other teams may have worked him out and we will never know whether he would have scored 20 goals, but being on 16 ud certainly have imagined he would have. We rely on him too much and he has had to carry that on his shoulders. He's a good player but if he doesn't sign a new contract we cant risk losing him on a free

Nothing to worry about I just can't see us selling him. Him Murphy and ourentire back 4 will be linked to all and sundry. I'm more interested in what's happening with the likes of Henshall and Green?

Danny Graham hadn't done a thing all season, until he played us with a month to go. No thanks. We'll be after Darren Bent next, and he's scored loads since leaving Sunderland eh! Surely we can speculate over better players.

I can't see him wanting to go there unless salary is the factor, on another note how the hell did QPR win today?? they can consider themselves (on the second half of the season showing) very fortunate to be in the top flight again, feel very sorry for Derby who have a Premiership stadium, a far smaller budget and have brought younger players through and have abided with the FFP rules unlike the team that somehow beat them today!! - what message does this send out!?

I don't see why he would go to Fulham to be honest. The links to Palace and Swansea would be more worrying but I think Fulham are a club in turmoil at the moment, so many high earning players at that club and they won't find it easy to get out of this league. Also McGoldrick might not be first choice if he goes there and also the managerial situation isn't clear. I would be surprised if Magath stayed there beyond Christmas unless they get off to an incredible start.
