Bialkowski Deal Could Be Done Today
Friday, 4th Jul 2014 15:02

Town could complete the signing of Notts County keeper Bartosz Bialkowski as soon as today, according to Midlands sources. Earlier, TWTD reported that the Blues were closing in on signing the 26-year-old former loanee, who was also a target last summer.

According to the Nottingham Post, Bialkowski's move to Town could be confirmed today, which would allow him to join up with the Blues squad when they travel to their training camp at the Carton House hotel in Co Kildare on Sunday.

A month ago, TWTD reported that the Pole would be on Mick McCarthy and keeper-coach Malcolm Webster’s list of potential targets, having been interesting the Blues last summer.

Bialkowski spent a short spell on loan with the Blues in 2009 from Southampton without making a first-team appearance and was previously coached by Webster during their time together with the Saints.

While on loan with Town the keeper was red-carded during his reserves debut in a game at Luton when he handled the ball outside the area with the Hatters bearing down on goal.

Earlier in the summer, Bialkowski told the Polish media that he is set to leave Notts County, despite having a year left on his contract, and that he was close to a move to a Championship club, with Brighton having been linked.

Town are in need of an additional senior goalkeeper with Scott Loach having moved on to Rotherham earlier in the summer.

The fee County will want for 6ft 4in tall Bialkowski — likely to be in the low hundred thousands - may have been an obstacle preventing the Blues from firming up their interest earlier in the summer but Town are in an improved position with West Ham agreeing to pay an initial £3.75 million fee for Aaron Cresswell yesterday.

JWM - seems you're out numbered on this one.

Don't know enough to pass comment personally - BUT he must be worth a punt - and with his age, and a DECENT keeper coach to work with !! - could be a promising prospect.

JWM-mates in nottingham?!
i find it hard to believe you have mates anywhere but even if you have if they share your football knowledge we should probably ignore there opinion anyway.
we need a new number one and without blowing loads of our budget on a keeper this lad seems a good punt from the other free agents available

Did I read "comes for crosses" ?! Already an improvement for me. I'm sold! Sign him up

Oh dear. These opinions are not from budgies, I'm sure. People are allowed to disagree with those that obviously know better. Hope Webster hasn't lost his marbles.. Seen Bart at Notts County :-/ He will not challenge Gerken which is not going to help both parties... Sad signing if true.. if I'm wrong, you can kick me....

Aaron Lee Barratt is available.
Jury will be out on this guy though, but we really do need someone who is either better than the gerkin or at least one that will push him onwards and upwards.

Wow it seems I've caused a bit of a kerfuffle!

He is a rubbish keeper and we should be doing better end of!

JWM you just have to trust Mick, with regards to who he brings in with the money generated from the cresswell sale. You've generally always shown blind faith in whatever mick has done and have criticised anyone else who spoke out, so it's somewhat suprising, id rather have this guy instead of henderson, that's for sure

I seriously doubt the resident budgie scum JWM has any mates, anywhere.

Looks like yet another quality signing by The Magician and he hasnt the need to spend £m's on players who are average journeymen like his club has done.

agree with Jimmy86 JWM has always backed mick even when the playing style has been long ball and weve played for draws he has stood firm in his support for mcarthy-seems that signing a promising young keeper has narked him enough to withdraw that unwavering support-- just goes to show there are some funny people about!

Having read all of the above comments, I can only say that I am very pleased that he could be coming to ITFC, we should trust the judgement of our Scouts, Coaches and Management who have been watching him and working with him, they must surely have much more superior knowledge of his ability etc. than those few on this site who seek to put him down so easily.

Maysixth, sad to hear that about Bialkowski having a breakdown . Takes a long time to get over something like that, which it sounds like he has.

Never seen him play. Sounds like he's okay. Look forward to seeing him at Ipswich. Do like the way MM goes about signing up new players - doesn't hang about.

Cooper came from Birmingham reserves and wasn't he a load of rubbish. Also Roy Bailey let in 10 against Fulham, should never have signed him. I suspect Webster knows a goalkeeper when he sees one.

I thought the Budgie comments would materialise because I dare to disagree with the Sheep mentality that prevails on here! Lol

Theobald old mucker, I stand by Mick 100% unlike you and all the other moaners that infest this forum.

JWM ............. 'stand by Mick 100%' ..... I would never have believed it of you !!!!!!!!!!! lol.

You should know the difference by know tho' - between being a 'moaner' and having an opinion, other than your very own.

The common factor is we all want the best for our Club - but that doesn't have to mean agreeing with everything associated with the Club, and it's people.

Found this on Youtube. It does scare me that he cant catch a ball, but a decent shot shot stopper.

Jimmy86 added 23:01 - Jul 5
Wessextractor I watched the same clips on you tube and he makes some absoloutely brilliant saves, doesn't matter how he keeps the ball out at the end of the day.

JWM you have often stood by mick 100 % which is why its suprising you are questioning his judgement regarding this potential signing

Looking at the YouTube link posted, he seems like a good addition.

Usual modern keeper save tosh at times but a lot of the saves were genuinely very good. I just hope that he's being brought it to replace Gerken and not act as a back up.

The last thing we need is to be on edge every game when the ball goes near him again

I am doubting that the guy is a good keeper. I just don't like the continental way of punching the ball rather than getting two hands on it. I remember Loach and Gerken punching it a couple of times and giving a goal away last season.

does.
he.
come.
for.
crosses.
and.
corners?

I can't remember the last commanding keeper we've had.

Oh, and of course the all important question.

Is he a blue?

Il give you a honest opinion on Bart as a notts county season ticket holder despite people saying we'd drive him down there dunno we're you heard that from he make some class saves an is a good shot stopper an pulls off wonders but his negatives are he comes out sometimes an gets caught in no mans land such as decision making and he doesn't always come for the ball from corners an as for the Rotherham game the defence was poor so you can't blame him as soon as Derry took over he got better I remover goin to Oldham last game an he single handed kept us in it he is a top keeper if he learns to command his box from corners an better decision making he's a good prospect just lucky we have a young German keeper who is a good replacement so when you hear things he's crap or we'd send him for free it's obviously people who have been to 3 games a season cause like I said I've been a season ticket holder saw him all year
