Murphy Unused Sub as Ireland Win
Sunday, 7th Sep 2014 20:12

Striker Daryl Murphy was an unused sub as the Republic of Ireland beat Georgia 2-1 in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Tbilisi this evening.

Everton’s Aiden McGeady netted both Irish goals, the winner coming in the game’s final minute.

Elsewhere, ex-Blue Tamas Priskin scored the Hungary goal as Northern Ireland - including his former team-mate Gareth McAuley - came from behind to win 2-1 in the closing minutes in Budapest.

Meanwhile, Town’s U21s are in action away against Leeds United on Monday afternoon (KO 1pm).

I really think if proof was needed ,tonight showed that Robbie Keane is past it ,we need Didzy ASAP and who better than murph to play up there with him,we don't need that budgie in our side who doesn't know where to play

Still 3 points gets us of to a good start. I agree Didzy and Murph up front.

Dids is probably the most talented all round striker we (Ireland) have at the moment.
He has the ability to play with any type of striker, when he is fully fit I think he will get his opportunity.

Hopefully Kendrick will get a chance soon, he is total midfield quality. He is part of the best midfield in the Championship at Derby.

Is Teddy Bishop Irish? He must have some irish blood in him.
Maybe we can persude Conor Wickham to turn to his Wexford roots.

David McGoldrick is where it is. So, so glad he was not involved though. Keeps him as fit as a fiddle for us.
