Sammon and Hyam Start
Monday, 22nd Sep 2014 18:57

Conor Sammon has been handed his second start for the Blues in tonight’s live Sky game away against his old club Wigan, while Luke Hyam also returns to the side.

Manager Mick McCarthy looks to be fielding a 4-3-3 formation with David McGoldrick set to play behind Sammon and Daryl Murphy.

Jay Tabb, who is unwell, is out of the 18 and Paul Anderson drops to the bench, while recent re-signing Darren Ambrose is on the bench for the first time.

Wigan: Carson, Ramis, Maloney, McManaman, Boyce (c), Cowie, Perch, Forshaw, Kiernan, Kvist, Delort. Subs: Al Habsi, Barnett, Taylor, Tavernier, Waghorn, Riera, McClean.

Town: Gerken, Parr, Chambers (c), Berra, Mings, Skuse, Hyam, Bishop, McGoldrick, Sammon, Murphy. Subs: Bialkowski, Smith, Bru, Ambrose, Henshall, Anderson, Bajner.

3-1 Sammon first scorer. (It'll hit his arse after having fallen over and bounce in)

Interesting hope we get mcgoldrick on the ball and get out full backs bombing FORWED mings could be our outlet. Hope sammon offers us something different as he looks very athletic and sharp. We look like we are set up to have a real go at Wigan. Come on you blues!!!!!

Interesting. I was hoping for an unchanged starting line up but if Tabb is unwell we have to make a change. Not sure I would have opted for Sammon but fingers crossed.

Think it will be more of a diamond with mcgoldrick linking up with sammon and Murphy, lets hope sammon is starting because he is so up for it and knows how to beat their defence! Really happy with the selection

Is 4-3-3 away allowed under the FFP guidelines?

433 is quite attacking formation for Mick away - glad Bishop has not been dropped to the bench as EADT were suggesting. Interesting match ahead, Sammon hasn't really delivered anything so far so let's hope he gives it a real go against his former club.

Interesting team selection. Three up front away?!

Not sure Hyam and Skuse should be in the same team. Not surprised that Anderson has been dropped.

...... Hyam and Skuse - not a good selection. Would be good for them to prove me wrong tho'. 2-0 defeat I fear is on the cards.

Great win!!! Ironic how we really missed Skuse after he went off. I don't think we would have conceded if he'd have stayed on.

Disappointing goal to concede but cracking result away on a Monday night. Not quite so composed as Millwall and Brighton and I am not convinced by David McGoldricks fitness. He looked very slow hope he's just playing catch up after his injury.

hairbear, I fully agree. You realise what you're missing when Skuse goes off. I thought he was excellent tonight actually. And made at least 3 telling forward passes, so there!
