Marcus Stewart With South-West Branch This Evening
Thursday, 2nd Oct 2014 13:46

The South-West Branch of the Supporters Club are holding an evening with Blues legend Marcus Stewart later today at Kings Tennis Club in Maplemead, Bishopston, Bristol BS7 8JG (7pm for an 8pm start).

There’ll be a question and answer session with Stewart, who is now assistant manager at Bristol Rovers, and a chance to relive some of the striker’s best Blues goals, as well as a raffle to raise funds for the academy.

The South-West Branch can now be followed on Twitter here.

Brings back a great memory from 2001. In Canada, we could sometimes watch Ipswich on telly in those days. Unfortunately I was going to be in transit from Toronto to Edmonton during game time.
So I called the hotel in advance to ask them if they could tape the game for me. The answer was negative...sorry we could not possibly do that and we do not have a VCR.
So I responded "$50". The young man at the other end said"Oh well in that case we'll have to see what can be arranged" .
When I checked in he was looking for me pleaded with me not to tell management about our arrangement. He had brought in his own VCR and arranged for it and TV to be wheeled up to my room along with two beers on ice.
Thanks to Marcus we won 3-0 and played brilliantly. it probably the best $50 that I have ever spent!

Gutted I can't make this. I wonder what he thought when he was out of the team when they(we 10'000 of us) went to Milan.

That Southampton game was THE classic Burley performance Tractor Breezer.

A wonderful player for Town, a classy, elegant striker and scorer of wonderful goals - McG has something of those qualities but has to do it in the Prem to compare with Stewart. I just wish the S W Branch was running when i was at Bristol Poly through our greatest period under Sir Bobby.
