Strong Squad Facing Swans in U21 Cup
Monday, 6th Oct 2014 13:56

Bartosz Bialkowski, Tommy Smith, Cameron Stewart, Alex Henshall and Balint Bajner are all in the squad for this evening’s U21 Premier League Cup match against Swansea City at Portman Road (KO 7pm).

With only three overage outfield players - Smith, Stewart and Bajner - and a goalkeeper permitted that means recent short-term signings Darren Ambrose and Jack Collison won't be involved.

Matt Clarke and Darren McQueen are also likely to be in Mark Kennedy's side, who have started the season promisingly having won three, drawn two and lost one of their first six games and currently sit fourth in the Professional Development League Two South table.

The second qualifying round tie is the Blues’ first ever game in the U21 Premier League Cup, which was won by Reading last season in its inaugural year.

The 12 winning teams from this round will go into the competition proper alongside 19 Category One clubs and one given a bye.

All ties are decided on the day with extra-time played if the scores are level after 90 minutes and with a penalty shoot-out following if required.

Season ticket holders can get in free but otherwise adult tickets are £3 and juniors £1.

Meanwhile, Burnley manager Sean Dyche was at Town’s Playford Road training ground on Sunday watching his son Max in action for a Northampton academy side against the Blues’ youngsters.

Yep, three overage outfield players and a goalkeeper permitted. I'll add that to the story.
