Hunt Loan Confirmed
Thursday, 27th Nov 2014 12:32

Town have confirmed that Noel Hunt has signed on loan from Leeds United until January 3rd. As reported yesterday, Hunt was due at Town this morning to complete the formalities on the switch, which is with a view to a permanent deal, the clubs having agreed terms yesterday.

In September, TWTD reported that the Blues manager had been keen on signing the 31-year-old - the younger brother of winger Stephen Hunt - earlier in the summer.

Hunt junior, who is ineligible when the Whites visit Portman Road next month, started his career in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers and with hometown club Waterford United, where he had a spell on loan, before moving on to Scotland where he played for Dunfermline and Dundee United.

Capped three times by Ireland, Hunt joined Reading in July 2008, before following his former Royals’ boss Brian McDermott to Elland Road in the summer of 2013.

Hunt, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has made only one start and one sub appearance for Leeds so far this season, both in the opening week of the campaign.

Overall, he has made 14 starts and eight sub appearances for the Whites without scoring having missed much of last season due to injury.

Football League clubs have until 5pm today to sign players on emergency loans.

We are fourth in table. And on a small transfer budget.

Yet we don't cut McCarthy any slack on judging a player (at least judging by comments on earlier version of this story).

If MM judges him to be useful depth in case something happens to Murphy or McGoldrick then that's good enough for me

So what about Banjer ? Sammon not really impressed me. Agree another CB like SSL would be good.

Great bit of business, short term loan, let's see how he does and then go from there.

As I said yesterday when Hunt story broke,if MM thinks he is right player and character to add to our squad it is fine with me.
Wonder if most of the negative comments were used yesterday or whether there will be another set. I suppose with results going well there has to be something else for people to be negative about.

My concern over SSL is that while he was a Peterborough, he was a royal pain in the butt when not getting his own way. I can't see him taking Mick on head-to-head but has potential to be a bad apple - unless he has grown up.

Gee, I remember how many negative comments were here when we were taking Berra. Same goes for Bru more recently. Keep it together people, if he's not good enough he'll be gone in January.

It has probably been said already, but surely bringing Darren Bent back to PR instead of him going to Brighton must have been an option. Yes his wages would be high, but could be the missing piece in the automatic promotion jigsaw.

wibbletown, i think you're right, it must have been an option. but to be honest I think it would only upset the striking pair we have in good form at the moment, and also I'd say that missing piece in the automatic promotion jigsaw for us is a quality playmaker.

And if I recall right, he spent quite some time no either wing while with Reading. Maybe that's where Mick sees him...

Welcome Noel. Let's give the guy a chance. Maybe he might turn out to be an inspired signing. Let's judge him after a few games rather than slag him off before he plays.

I know he's Irish but there's no need to hold up an ITFC shirt when you've got one on already.

He's clearly not in to replace McG or Smurfy, he's here to play as the 3rd striker in the 433. MM must be worried that Sammon didn't score and that Hunt senior might break down. So if anything he's here to replace his brother!! Being able to play out wide give you the chance to be the provider in the front 3 rather like Hunt senior or Ando do now.

Hope he has more goals in him than his bro or Sammon. Think it would be good for BB to go out on loan as it seems he is struggling with the English game at the moment unlike Bru who has settled in rather well
