Mings, Skuse and Hunt Should All Make Brentford Trip
Monday, 22nd Dec 2014 17:13

Boss Mick McCarthy expects Tyrone Mings, Cole Skuse and Noel Hunt to be fine to make the Boxing Day trip to Brentford but Luke Hyam will again miss out

Mings missed Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over Middlesbrough with an infected toe, Hunt was out having taken a kick to his leg, while Skuse was subbed during the second half.

“Tyrone will be fine, unless he gets any reaction, he’s trained today,” McCarthy said.

“He’s OK. Noel Hunt got a kick in training from the tough-tackling David McGoldrick and I’m hoping he’ll be OK.

“Skusey had to come off on Saturday, he’s had a scan and there’s no damage to his hamstring, it’s a bit of sciatica, I think. He just overstretched. I hope that he’ll be OK as well.”

He confirmed that Paul Anderson wasn’t suffering an injury when he was replaced late on against Boro, but says Luke Hyam is still sidelined.

“Luke won’t be fit, I’m not going to rush him because I think he’s been pushing himself to be fit and he keeps aggravating his achilles,” the Town boss added.

“As I said to him right at the very start, if they start grumbling, they grumble on for a long time, you’ve got to get them right.

“And, of course, everything goes through them, whether you’re driving, you’re walking , you just can’t help but use it. I don’t think he’ll be ready for Brentford.”

Particularly good news about Skuse because when he went off on saturday it looked like it could be a 3-4 week lay off.I thought he was playing exceptionally well on saturday as typified by the chasing back, interception and overhead clearance that caused the problem.

Not surprised Anderson looked injured he absolutely ran himself into the ground - he is totally our unsung hero, his work rate is outstanding! Another shrewd MM signing. Compare him to the likes of Taylor - enough said.

Pretty sure they all went. I think they only had 200 left by the time they went on general sale.

A bit off topic, but if anyone can't make the Southampton game I'll gladly buy their tickets off them. 5500 all sold out!

Great news for me that skuse should be ok to play for this extremely important fixture. He has been a unsung hero this season and will be especially vital for this game . For me this game looks extremely tough but getting 3 points would send a big message to our challenges that we are here to stay in this automatic chase for promotion .
Coyb and keep are the great work mick and the team.
