McCarthy Confirms Sammon Exit
Wednesday, 14th Jan 2015 22:47

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that striker Conor Sammon has left the club with his season-long loan having been ended early. The Derby striker is now expected to join Rotherham with Huddersfield also having shown interest.

“Conor came here to play games and, of course, he did when he came and then he’s not played,” McCarthy said.

“He wants to progress his career. He had 12 months last year at Derby not playing games, so he wanted to play and there are other clubs that wanted him.

“We got him on a 12-month loan but I think it’s completely unfair that if he’s not going to play I’m depriving him of playing and sorting his own career out, so he’s moved on.”

The 28-year-old scored one goal in eight starts and 12 sub appearances for the Blues.

McCarthy confirmed that he’ll now be looking for another striker: “I’ve still got Noel Hunt, who couldn’t play because he wasn’t registered for the FA Cup.

“We’ll be looking, I’ve got to do. I’ve got to keep looking because the squad’s so thin at the moment.”

Hallelujah! Good luck wherever he goes but simply no where near good enough. Hopefully Mick has a new striker to target who is capable of scoring goals and give Murphy and McGoldrick proper competition.

Surely there is more to planning than , oh my squads thin i need players. He must have targets in mind as for sure we need to freshen things up. Major influence in midfield needed , a quick striker. A few players in our side need dropping ,chambers and hyam have been off the pace the last two games ,difficult to drop your captain but he is the weak link in the back four simply because he is not a right back. Maybe Mcgoldrick could play centre mid as the creative one and we buy a pact striker to play along side murph. We need to freshen things up as our style of play is high energy , its now taken its toll with our players looking punch drunk in and out of possession

Kevin Doyle will do. Partner him with Murphy and sit Mcgoldrick just behind

The players are starting to look leg weary IMO. We need 2 players minimum in NOW. We have feck all cover for the two strikers and only one of those is scoring goals.

Forget tonight's cup exit. Town MUST win the next league game or suddenly its 3 losses on the bounce.

He always tried, but wasn't quite up to the level we needed.

Certainly wish him all the best.
