Bajner Deal Could Be Done This Week
Monday, 19th Jan 2015 18:37

Notts County assistant manager Greg Abbott says the League One club could complete the signing of Blues striker Balint Bajner this week.

“We've had a lot of help from Ipswich and Mick McCarthy, in particular," Abbott told the Nottingham Post. "And we feel Balint is one we can make happen this week.

"But there is a bit of work to do in respect of Balint and his personal circumstances at Ipswich. If we can make it happen then we will do and he will become a powerful number nine.

"But, at the minute, he is one we have shown a firm interest in and we've got the support of the chairman [Ray Trew] yet again."

Bajner, 24, was missing from the Town squad which defeated Millwall 3-1 at the Den on Saturday and is understood to have watched County’s 2-1 home victory over Crewe.

The Hungarian is now expected to join the Magpies on a permanent basis rather than on loan having had limited opportunities since signing for Town following a trial last summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund man’s appearance from the bench in last Wednesday’s FA Cup third round replay defeat to Southampton was his sixth game as a sub with his only start his 44 minutes against Fulham on the opening day.

Impressive how MM clears the decks without faffing about. In this case, sad that it hasn't worked out for the player, but no point in having him on the payroll if he's not going to play.

Is there a rumour going round that Joniesta is coming back, or am I just dreaming?

a shame this, what with the fact he came from borrisium dormund (ok the b team but still) and the name you cant help but to want him to succeed. He's always had the attitude and the effort and he must of had the passion as he was the first one to run and celebrate with hunt when he scored the 90th min winner at chralton. but maybe he just isnt good enough (yet) for this level.

Honestly wish him the best of luck if he goes as i still think he can make a name for himself. there was no harm in going for him as he was free and must of been on low wages.

Good luck Ballint?

No Bajner, no party!

Its hard to judge him on what we have seen, it needs a run in some one first team Hopefully he will get this at Notts County.
He is wasted at Town, limited prospects here considering where we may be going and at 24 he needs games now. I hope it works out for him cause he seems like a sound bloke and MM and TC obviously saw potential in him.

I agree with the previous entry I reckon Mick watched him up against Southampton and thought 'He's got to go'. He has the turning Circle of the Ark Royal.

Really wish Bajner all the best. He's not really done much on the pitch but he's been a real team player. Every time we score and they show the bench, he's always going nuts even though he's not involved a large majority of the time. Hopefully he bangs them in for Notts County and makes a good career for himself!

Like most above,I want to like him and hope he dies well. But yes, I got quite a shock when I saw him against Southampton. V poor. Didn't help us at all. Possibly worse than Sammon. So....who will be the striker in?

Seems like a good bloke, good luck to him. Agree let him go for free with a sell on clause if thats the way its going. At 24 time is on his side, i hope he makes it. He's a big lad so I'm sure he'll do a job for someone.

If nothing else I'll always remember him charging on the pitch when Hunt sister number 2 scored against Charlton.

Bodger and Badger will never ring round FPR but thankfully Bodger looks like he could be a real find.

COYB!

Didn't mind when Sammon left as we had Baijner as cover for Murphy. Now with him leaving we could struggle if anything happens to Murphy.
Obviously having a big-man up front isn't our only game play, but we can't deny it is a play of ours especially if our defenders are under pressure.

Baijner had one of the best attitudes to being left on the bench I've ever seen ... the way he celebrated other people scoring he seemed to really buy into the team ethic, but just did not have the quality or opportunity. Good luck to him (except against us).
