McGoldrick Back But Murphy Out
Friday, 30th Jan 2015 14:39

Town boss Mick McCarthy has striker David McGoldrick back after his knee injury but 18-goal Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy misses Saturday’s home game against Wigan with a calf strain. Luke Hyam and Dean Gerken remain on the sidelines.

“David McGoldrick is fine, he’s fit,” McCarthy said. “It’s nice to have him available again, he’s been a vital part of our team ever since he walked through the door and we want him fit, we want all our players fit, but he’s one of the best.”

Regarding Murphy, he added: “Murph’s got a bit of a calf strain and unfortunately he’ll be missing.

"He can’t play, we’re not even going to try him, it’s bonkers with the games that we’ve got left that we would even think about risking him.

“He just picked it up on Monday, got a little calf strain and we’ll have to do without him.”

Luke Hyam is out for a few weeks with a knee problem, but the Town boss says keeper Dean Gerken isn’t far off a return from his hip injury: “Gerks is fine, he’s bouncing about a little bit more, he’s not hiding away in the physio room. He’s starting to feel the force and he’ll hopefully be back in a week.”

Be interesting to see what formation Mick puts out now that we have lost Murph for a game Didz is back and while he will link up play and be dangerous on the break we need the ball to feet from the back four through midfield this is where I think kevein bru can excel and with the mobility of hunt and sears together with didz we will have goals in us, a change of pattern forced on us will provide an alternative to be used which can only help in the push for promotion starting with 3 points tomorrow, come on you blues.

We have to start with Sears, somewhere up the front, McGoldrick and Noel Hunt, those three in a strong attacking force, has to be goals in that!

I was on traffic on Yarmouth road tonight and right next to me going the opposite way was Daryl Murphy in his car. This was at 4pm so I don't reckon he was going to hull to negotiate a deal

Picking up the injuries/viruses only a regular basis now. So that's Berra or Smith to score then (hopefully).

Oh dear what is chambers going to do now he can't ping it to Murphy every time he gets it,

Makes you wonder if the transfer rumours around hull and murph are true, Sears and hunt will start, Didz on the bench

We will go 442 with Hunt up front
Very big game- Think Wigan will sit back and frustrate so comes down to being creative and set pieces.
Keep calm, keep the shape, keep supporting the team- we will get a chance or 2 in this league and then its up to us to us to take one.
Ohhh David McGoldrick

As others have said here, could be a very interesting game as we are going to have to change our tactics.

With no Murphy, Bajner or Nouble up front our usual hoof-ball is not going to pay dividends.

Great opportunity for Sears to stake his place in the team; just hope he takes it.
