U21s Win at Bristol City
Monday, 13th Apr 2015 16:05

Goals from Jack Marriott, Alex Henshall and trialist Josh Yorwerth saw Town’s U21s to a 3-0 victory over Bristol City at their Failand training ground this afternoon.

Marriott, who is still available for the U21s despite being on loan at Colchester for the rest of the season, volleyed the Blues in front a minute before the break, having scored twice in the U21s' 5-1 home victory over Charlton last week.

Ten minutes after the restart, Henshall’s cross-shot flew over Robins keeper Jojo Woolacott to make it 2-0.

In the 66th minute 20-year-old Wales U21 international centre-half Yorwerth, who is currently with Cardiff and also played in last week’s victory over the Addicks, netted from close range after the keeper had missed his punch at a set piece.

U21s: Crowe, Hammond, Wyatt, Blanchfield, Yorwerth, Robinson, Patterson, Benyu, McQueen, Marriott, Henshall.

Certainly all Town's teams are doing better than last season when I recall the under 21's.were hopeless.
Nice to see Henshalls name being mentioned;but must admit didn't impress me when I saw him earlier in season.Marriott has started knocking in the goals again but cant seem to get in the U's first team.
It may be that some of these players will be moved on as Sowunmi has been;but it would be nice to see Mick put one youngster on the bench for all games even if he doesn't get on.

I think Marriott will make it - some lads grow up quicker than others but I don't think he will make it here.
There will be someone who shows no sign of ever growing up along in a little while to prove my point.

Great decision to send Jack Marriott out on loan. He seems to be finding his feet at the professional level. Hope to see him back here in the first team squad next season.
