Fulham Eyeing Ando
Monday, 27th Apr 2015 20:23

Fulham are keeping tabs on Town midfielder Paul Anderson, TWTD understands.

The 26-year-old’s Blues contract is up at the end of the season, although Town have an option for a further year.

Anderson has been in and out of the Town side this season, making 20 starts and 14 sub appearances, scoring one goal.

The winger, who joined the Blues from Bristol City in a swap deal which saw Jay Emmanuel-Thomas move in the opposite direction in the summer of 2013, was singled out for praise by manager Mick McCarthy following Saturday’s 2-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest.

Also currently due to be out of contract at the end of the season are Elliott Hewitt (although Town have an option for another season), Noel Hunt, Stephen Hunt (but he would automatically get another year if the Blues are promoted), Jay Tabb, Paddy Kenny, Jack Marriott and Anthony Wordsworth.

Loanees Luke Varney and Richard Chaplow will also be out of contract with their parent clubs at the end of the campaign.

If it comes down to a choice of him or Varney. I would take Varney. So we may need to get rid in order to finance a deal.

I expect Kenny, Wordsworth and Marriott will be released, all of the rest are good squad players (inc. Varney and Chaplow) none will set the world alight but are all hardworking and won't let the side down if called upon.

If we go up you'd say they're not really good enough for Prem and you'd hope we'd find players equally as hardworking but with a bit more ability, if we don't I'd trust Mick's judgement on who stays and who goes.

MM will keep Anderson and rightly so; he is very hard working, protects the right-back and his assists record is good. I suspect that he will keep Tabb and Stephen Hunt, but the rest, sadly, will go. I would like him to keep Hewitt and Marriott, but I fear that he won't.

During the latter part of this season MM will have been assessing the performance of all his players, not just in respect of whether they can do a job next season, but also in respect of the 2016/17 season. He will be honest enough to treat all players with objectivity. We know (and hope) that the squad will be enhanced and hopefully improved by recruiting a number of quality players during the summer. Consequently it is inevitable that some players will have to move on, particularly those already on the fringes. MM clearly trusts Ando to do a job and values his contributions in games even though he rarely starts these days. Even so, if he feels that a younger and better player can be found Ando will be replaced. That is the football way!

I will assume those saying he has pace and can beat a man haven't been to any game of which he is played in. He's an ok player with great effort but ask yourself would he be in any other top ten team. Most teams have wingers who burn past people and while that isn't how we play and I don't mind it would be nice to have someone who could go past people. Hopefully Connolly will come through at some point. Trust Mick to do the right thing if he wants to keep him

....... more media garbage - let's move on to far more important stuff like three points against Blackburn - and then maybe, just maybe, back to the 'promised land'.

Tricky one this.He is an ok player in Championship;but not as a regular,as seems to run out of steam in second half when starting.
Is definitely better than Tabby who for all his running around don't think he is very effective.
Off message. The two best footballing teams by a mile in Watford and Bournemouth are
promoted to the Premier League deservedly.
Lets hope the worst footballing team out of the top eight i.e. Ipswich Town join them.
Noticed in Murphs interview on Player talking about his promotion with Sunderland, hinted it was easier with the Mackems who he said played teams off the park;something that his present team rarely does unfortunately;but we have scrapped our way to 5th in the Championship so have as good a chance as the other teams left.Wolves are now out of equation.

He runs around but with no purpose. Possibly the worst wide player I've seen at the club. Bournemouth have proper wingers who have assists and goals in them. Ando lacks pace and can't get beyond the full back.
Negativity over with lets focus on beating Blackburn. Rhodes will be desperate to spoil our party.

Summer clear out needed in the midfield without a doubt...Tabb, Anderson, Ambrose, S Hunt can all go.

We did not actually swop him for JET, we paid JET's contract up- around 500K. and got Anderson who is just about good enough for the championship but certainly not Premiership quality. If we don't go up kep him, if we do let Fulham have him
