Sunday, 10th May 2015 09:07

Academy scholar Monty Patterson played the first 66 minutes as New Zealand’s U20s lost 2-0 to Qatar in the Five Nations Series of friendlies in Hamilton overnight.

The games are preparation ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup which New Zealand are hosting later this month.

On Sunday, Patterson, 18, played the first half as the Junior All Whites lost 3-2 to Australia and on Thursday he played just over an hour in a 2-1 victory over Panama.

New Zealand have further friendlies against Honduras and Austria later in the month before their U20 World Cup group games against Ukraine on May 30th before taking on the USA on June 2nd and Myanmar on June 5th.
