Fulham Winning Race for Pringle
Tuesday, 9th Jun 2015 16:20

Fulham are set to beat the Blues to the signature of former Rotherham midfielder Ben Pringle, TWTD understands.

Out-of-contract Pringle, who turned down a new deal with the Millers, was initially reported to be interesting Town, the Cottagers and a number of other Championship and League One clubs late last month.

We understand that Town made an offer to the 26-year-old but that Fulham - whose Premier League parachute payments give them greater financial muscle - subsequently made an approach and that as things stand Newcastle-born Pringle will join the West Londoners when his Rotherham contract is up at the end of the month.

Pringle signed for the Millers from Derby County in 2011 after a spell in non-league with Newcastle Blue Star, Morpeth Town and Ilkeston Town, having been with West Brom’s academy as a youngster. While with Derby he spent a spell on loan with Torquay.

Pringle, whose set pieces led to both Rotherham’s goals in their 2-0 victory over the Blues in February, made 154 starts and 14 sub appearances for Rotherham, scoring 22 goals, and helped them to promotion from League Two as runners-up in 2012/13 and League One via the play-offs in 2013/14.

Meanwhile, Stephen Hunt, who is still to be offered a new contract by the Blues, was fined £100, had three points added to his licence and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge by a court in Bury St Edmunds yesterday having admitted speeding at 89mph on the A14 at Newmarket in September last year.

Hunt, who is currently back in Ireland, pleaded guilty by post initially wanted accept a fixed penalty but was unable to do so as the letter had been sent to an old address in Kesgrave rather than his current home in Sutton Coldfield.

Elsewhere, former Blues striker Dean Bowditch, 28, has signed a new two-year deal with Championship new boys the MK Dons.

Blues academy product Sammy Moore, 27, who made one senior sub appearance for Town, has joined Leyton Orient after leaving AFC Wimbledon.

Oh well, shame, but if he doesn't want to play here and/or isn't happy with what we're willing to pay him then there isn't much we can do. Onwards and upwards.

i reckon they've offered more money, if he based his decision on the last season we would be head and shoulders ahead of fulham to sign him

Shock, amazement, player more interested in his bank balance instead of playing for a Club that may well achieve promotion but has a smaller budget.

Well with QPR and Hull and some others bending FFP rules to try to get promoted if like derby or Fulham and QPR don't make it 16 mill in para payments wont help over a 3 year contract as at 20k a week over 3 years is a heafty chunk on a player I think the only way is to consider salary caps to level it up but has to be total over every league around the world but if the people who make the rules break them they cannot in all honesty blame any owner for breaking other rules I think they should say FFP worldwide top league a max transfer cap and salary cap and scaled down for 2nd league and for 3rd league get rid of players moving for money and make the whole game fairer if there was a max trans cap in championship and every 2nd tier in the world of say 2million and max wage of 15k only players better would play in prem effectively saying take it or leave it, if you offered the max then they would not play in the second tier anywhere in the world for more, give it a couple of years be like derby and wovles and leeds with the gambles they are looking to make to get promotion would kill the club and who are the only ones who hurt from a club going broke the fans who put there lives in a club the owner sells and buys another it all a joke

A shame but money seems the main motivation for him if he is going to Fulham who are in a mess at the moment. Not sure what the managerial situation is there which makes the potential signing even stranger if there isn't a manager.

Confident in Mick to get the right players this summer! COYB!

Please can we sign Nathan Byrne from Swindon, he will want the move, is a classy footballer and is what I think the missing part of Town's team.

Looks like this Fair Play rubbish loses again. Another team rewarded for failing in the Premier League! This rule is so backwards it infuriates me!

........ patience people - our market level are not 'left on the peg' as yet, for our perusal.

Think he would have been a good addition for us but certainly not good enough to break the bank. As a club we need to be realistic about how much players are worth and let others such as Fulham overvalue players. In some cases it'll be cost effective to spend a fee on a player who's on lower wages. So no need to be too worried when we miss out on free transfers who are in demand and therefore commanding large wages and sign-on fees!

I agree with the lad from Swindon be a damn good buy and playing 3 centre bks and byrne on the right wing bk and mings on the left would work a treat

We will finish above Fulham again and will take six points off Fulham again.

Well done Derek.

So look in League One, or abroad, where players don't have such an inflated opinion of their worth. But don't keep whining about Fair Play. Obviously it's flawed, but we still need to finish in the top two on points to get automatic promotio, whether it costs 10million or 10p per point.

Most probable thing is his agent will get more out of it if he signs for Fulham than what Ipswich will pay him.
If McCarthy is still not back from his hols, then he's probably not even spoke to the player at all.
Also remember Rotherham had 3 of our players who'd been with Ipswich, Loach, Wordsworth, and Taylor.
Maybe they haven't sold the club to him if he's asked for their advice!!

Personally, I can't see Fulham finishing in the top six, especially if Ross McCormack gets sold on as they don't have the ability to score many goals from elsewhere.

We need to buck up and compete. If we end up signing released players at the end of the summer, it would be complete failure. Evans needs to support his manager. Quality needed.

Can't say I'm not going to lose sleep if we miss out to Fulham.

Let's be honest here,he's hardly a household name, not that is a requirement for successful signings.

What is frustrating is the fact we seem to religiously stick to ffp whilst other club's seem to not give a toss!

The more I read about ffp the more confused I get.

jas0999 ........ agreed, but equally so MM needs to ask the Owner - not too sure that has been / is the case, although everyone seems to assume so.
