Academy scholar Monty Patterson has been named in the New Zealand U23 squad for the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

New Zealand face the Solomon Islands on Friday 3rd July, the hosts two days later and then New Caledonia on Tuesday 7th July in the group stages with a place at the 2016 Olympic Games up for grabs.

Earlier this month Patterson, 18, played for New Zealand at the FIFA U20 World Cup. His goal in the 5-1 victory over Myanmar is amongst the nominations for Goal of the Tournament with voting ending on Friday.
