Town midfielder Jim Magilton has revealed that last week's trip to Cyprus for a training camp was no holiday for the players. The Northern Irishman said the trip was very hard work.

Magilton was disappointed to discover a lack of swimming opportunities: "I packed my trunks but never got to use them! We never got anywhere near the beach.

"People probably think we were on holiday but it was a very tough week, more like pre-season than anything.

"We trained twice a day and everything was geared to this Saturday's game against Saints. It was hard work but it was enjoyable and it got everyone together and helped us to get the Liverpool defeat out of our system."

Magilton added that he felt the result against Liverpool was in some ways a bit of a freak, although he bemoaned some profligate defending in the second half: "It was a bit of a freak result in some ways. There was nothing in it until half-time but they had a couple of breakaway goals.

"But in the second half we gave them some goals and you cannot afford to do that at this level. so there were a lot of things for us to work on while we were away.

"Things have been going well recently and we need to regain that momentum."
