Chaplow Joins Doncaster
Monday, 6th Jul 2015 14:45

Former Blues loanee Richard Chaplow has joined League One Doncaster Rovers on a two-year deal, having been released by Millwall at the end of last season.

The 30-year-old joined Town after a short trial in February and went on to make three starts and three sub appearances. His only goal was the dramatic last-gasp winner at Watford in March.

The former England U21 international was amongst the players not offered a contract at the end of the season but who manager Mick McCarthy wasn't ruling out offering terms later on in the summer.

Elsewhere, former Blues winger Jordan Adekunle is back training with his old club Crawley Town.

The 19-year-old joined Town from Crawley in the summer of 2013 having impressed in a pre-season friendly and then a trial. He was released at the end of 2013/14 without breaking into the first team.

Thank you for the winner at Watford, but not good enough for a top 6 side looking to improve. Good luck.

Good solid pro, who could do a job for us, which in a way makes it positive that he's moved on because it appears we are going for a little more creativity in the middle and not just settling for what we have. I wish him well in glorious Doncaster.

He was responsible for the single most joyous moment of last season,at least for those of us that were at Watford.
Good luck at Donny.

Similar signing to Noel Hunt in regards to lack of expectation but thought he was very good whenever I saw him play. If he can keep fit then Doncaster have made a great signing for League One. I'll never forget Watford away, still Youtube that moment all the time. Good luck to him.

Watford away was clearly the high point and will be remembered for a long while. Sadly, can't think of too many other contributions and frankly no better and probably slightly worse than our current options. Good luck to him though

Best away day in a long time. Like earlier poster said - Moon under the water, followed by the last second winner. I was 2 rows from the front, went mental for ages. Still occassionally play it on youtube.

Hopefully this move works out for him - more than exceeded expectations considered he was a short term loan who wasn't getting games at a team in the bottom 3. He offered good squad competition and when he played, always did well for us.

GeorgeITFC - I agree, although I guess lack of game time at Millwall in the past few years and injuries probably put possible championship suitors off him. Plus Doncaster will hopefully offer him regular first team football as, only 30, he is still a pretty decent age to get back to the championship with a good couple of seasons.

Good luck to him

As others have already said, he will always be remembered for Watford away, one of the many high points last season. Another player like the majority of Mick's signing who was going nowhere in his career and McCarthy signs him and proves he can do a job. Its no surprise that players love to play in Mick's teams
