No New Injuries as Parr Makes Return in U21s
Monday, 17th Aug 2015 13:16

Town boss Mick McCarthy says his squad suffered no new injuries at the weekend and is pleased to see Jonny Parr get back to action in the U21s against Coventry at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

“Everybody’s OK, thankfully, we’ve enough injuries, we don’t need any more,” McCarthy said.

“Jonny Parr is playing in the U21s against Coventry. It’ll be good for him to hopefully get 90 minutes.

“He’s not had that many minutes due to his thigh strain. If he gets through today, which I’m hoping and am sure he will, he should be OK for Saturday and for Tuesday and the next Saturday.”

Teddy Bishop and Kevin Bru remain sidelined with hamstring problems, while Luke Hyam is out for around another three months having undergone knee surgery in the summer.

After defeating Stevenage in the first round of the Capital One Cup, the Blues now face seven games in the first 22 days of the season.

“It’s physically demanding for all of us, no doubt about that, for everybody in the league,” McCarthy added.

“It just seems a really hectic start from not doing anything, but because of the international breaks you have to cram our fixtures in.

“It is what it is and we’re more than capable of doing it, we proved that last year and, of course, for the cup game I will change the team again, which I did last week and we played really well in it. That helps anybody that needs a game to ready to play in the first team.”

In terms of further additions to his squad, he said: “We’re still looking and still speaking to a couple of people. I’m hoping to do something before the window closes, but I’m happy with the squad I’ve got.

“If I can get Bish back, Bru back, Jonny Parr back, suddenly that makes us a whole different proposition.”
