Town are reported to be showing interest in 21-year-old Grays Athletic striker Dumebi Dumaka, who has scored 15 goals in nine games for the Ryman League Premier Division side this season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues watched him as he netted twice during Saturday’s 4-0 home victory over Lewes.

West Ham have also been strongly linked with the former Heybridge Swifts and Barking frontman.

On Sunday, Town and the Hammers were amongst a number of clubs mentioned in connection with another Grays player, midfielder Nathan Ferguson.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has previously had notable successes when dipping into non-league having signed Michael Kightly from Grays when Wolves manager and picking up Tyrone Mings from Chippenham Town for the Blues for £10,000 and selling him in an £8 million deal in the summer.

He's clearly not going to to be a signing that walks straight into the team. He is 21 years old, showing a bit of promise, Mick will look to bring players like that in, help develop then and see where things go. How old was Ian Wright made the step up from non-league? If the club think he'll be better than a 33 yr old Murphy in 12 months, then yes, worth a punt. Jamie Vardy was playing in the reserves for a Northern Premier club (below Conference) aged 21. Not enough recognition is given to talent in the lower leagues in English football.

dirtydingusmagee added 09:19 - Oct 21 i suppose if we get enough strikers in front of 2 full backs it may solve the midfield problem ,At least some how after the full backs clear the ball it will reach a striker. COME ON! ,we have enough strikers capable of scoring now, its getting a midfield to start playing football and making things possible that we really need.After a great start to season i cannot believe that we have lost the plot again .Iknow in past we have come good after poor starts ,and things could still come good, but its bad to see we have lost so much ground over past few weeks .
