Wednesday, 23rd Dec 2015 11:54

Town assistant manager Terry Connor has been shortlisted for the Coach of the Year gong at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards, which take place on Saturday, 6th February at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and will be shown live on Sky TV.

Connor, known universally as TC, is up against fellow nominees Baldip Sahota, who coaches wheelchair fencing’s world numbers one and two, and Sivakumar Ramasamy, the Great Britain Taekwondo coach.

The 53-year-old joined the Blues shortly after Mick McCarthy took over as manager in November 2012 having previously worked with the Town boss at Wolves.

Isn't about time that these ethnic minority awards were abolished ? I am in no way racist and believe that all men (and women) should be treated equally, therefore I would be more than happy to see TC nominated as coach of the year amongst candidates of all races including white. Why do they feel the need to have these groups for ethnic minorities when, in my opinion all it does is highlight the fact that racism still exists ?

Surely having these awards at all is racist. TC is a great coach but we are told all men and women are equal these days, regardless of skin colour and religion. We are supposed to be all as one.

Who says all things are equal? How many black football managers are there in the game? Why does a campaign such as kick racism out gain so much monument.
Surely any award that can inspire young men and women from ethnic communities is a good thing and for it to gain national recognition on tv. Surely we are concerned about the amiunt of negative influences within some communities.
Dont like it then watch something else.

I'm just pleased El Tel has been nominated for an award; doesn't get nearly enough recognition as far as I'm concerned.
