Adam Tanner has avoided being sent to prison after sentencing today at Chelmsford Magistrates. 26-year-old Tanner, who has already been slapped on the transfer list by Town, was sentenced to a year's probation, 80 hours community service as well as being ordered to attend a driving course and being banned from driving for three years. Tanner was arrested in November and charged with failing to report an accident and having three times the legal amount of alcohol in his bloodstream. Since his arrest he has been receiving treatment for alcohol related problems. Tanner is expected to join Colchester on a free transfer in the next few days.
