Milne: No Plans to Reduce Away Prices
Monday, 21st Mar 2016 13:36

Town MD Ian Milne says the Blues have no plans to drop their away prices while in the Championship, despite visitors to Portman Road having to pay more than the Premier League’s recent self-imposed cap of £30.

Rotherham fans paid £32.50 for their seats in advance of Saturday’s game and £35 on the day with the Blues freezing their matchday prices for next season and having scrapped the grading of matches.

Milne says that in the Championship clubs rely on their ticket income far more than Premier League sides do these days.

“Premier League ticket revenue is a drop in bucket to what they get [overall] because of the TV money that they get,” he told Saturday’s Life’s a Pitch on BBC Radio Suffolk.

“Forty per cent of our revenue comes from ticket sales, so it’s an important part. Next season we’re going to continue the one grade system and we’re not raising prices.

“Whilst it would be lovely to reduce prices, it is an important part of our revenue. But by holding the prices we think that’s good and having one grade makes life easier for fans.”

Town announced their season ticket prices for 2016/17 earlier in the month and Milne says sales are in line with last season at the same stage: “Our early season ticket sales are as they were last year.”

The early bird deadline for buying season tickets at the lowest price is midday on April 11th.

We have a Manager who's tactics are going to forever be questionable, and stay with him.

We have an Owner who only cares about the benefit of the Club to himself.

We have a MD who is only interested in counting beans, and knows nothing about what is right for Supporters, neither does he care.

We have Supporters who will state facts, have a moan - but still accept anything.

All considered - all is not at all good with the Club.

Oh for some people at the top, who genuinely care about the history, present, and future of our Club - and a Manager like George Burley, who always tried his utmost to entertain, as well as win for us.
Didn't have a bad record either - Did he ?

Equally so - we had players on the pitch, particularly in midfield, on Saturday that should, and could, man up somewhat more than they did.

Burley is right on that front too.

You people are all stupid. Cut ticket prices, and you cut profit - it's that simple. Say you cut from £30 to £20, you will never get the 50% more people attending to make up the revenue. Also there are additional costs to increased attendance. So believe me it's far better to have 1,000 people paying £30 than 1,500 people paying £20.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm afraid I don't believe you and disagree with all you say in your simplistic post.

You choices next season...
1. pay inflated prices to watch hoofball in a half-empty atmosphere-free stadium.
2. hop on the train/down the A12 and watch top level attractive attacking football in a modern stadium with a huge crowd and atmosphere to match, for less than it costs to watch option 1.

Has no one told the board about West Ham moving to the Olympic Stadium?

What's the grade one system?
If its anything to do with the academy then let's be clear.
So long as McCarthy is 'manager' there is absolutely no point having an academy.
SAY NO TO HOOFBALL
