Nuhiu: Town One of the Ugliest Teams to Play Against
Friday, 15th Apr 2016 11:46

Sheffield Wednesday striker Atdhe Nuhiu believes Town are “probably one of the ugliest teams to play against” in the Championship. The Blues visit Hillsborough tomorrow knowing only a win will be good enough to maintain their faint hopes of reaching the play-offs.

The 26-year-old Austrian says he’s anticipating a demanding afternoon against the Blues.

“I have played Ipswich a few times in the last three years. They are one of the most direct and physical teams in the league," he told the Sheffield Star.

“They are probably one of the ugliest teams to play against. Their style will never change. They have their one way to play.

“Everybody knows Ipswich are a tough team to beat and are always 100 per cent in challenges. They work hard and have earned the respect from other teams.”

The former Rapid Vienna frontman believes his side, who are currently sixth, eight points plus goal difference ahead of the eighth-placed Blues, should be strong enough to get back to winning ways after last week’s surprise 4-1 thrashing at Bristol City.

“You have to battle against them, but I think we have got the players to get stuck in,” he added. “If we win our challenges, I think football-wise we can damage them. That’s what we have done all season.

“If we win our battles, everybody knows we have a lot of quality in the final third which can make a difference.”

Dougie freedman made similar claims and we played the right way and turned them over. More of the same please. COYB

Absolutely - credit to the gut for having the rollocks to say so.

Definitely nothing to be proud of - certainly not what Ipswich Town was built on.

I long for the true pedigree to return - then I'll be a 'happy chappie' - but NOT until then.

Brentford would agree too - especially after last week. Unfortunately - but correctly.

Do one you poor man's Crouchy! It's one thing for us to say we play crap football and win ugly, it's quite another for some lanky tosser from another washed-up former Prem team to say anything about it.

Kikapu/essex57/tractorboytedwardo19 you all disagree with me. So you are saying that the ugly style is not micks but is in fact the ipswich style?

hey guys, wouldn't you much rather be known as a tough side who are hard to play against with a reputation for always giving 100%, than a team that has dodgey characters (Taylor, chopra), or one that regularly gets thrashed, and a bit of a laughing stock. Think back to the Jewell/Keane eras and appreciate just how far we've come!
