No Finidi Apology

Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh has denied that he and Town's Finidi George have apologised for holding out for money for flight tickets during January's African Nations' Cup.

Reports in Nigeria said that Oliseh and Finidi, both dropped from manager Adegboye Onidbinde's pre World Cup squad, had made an apology to the Nigerian Football Association via former Nigerian international Joseph Dosu.

Dosu said he was acting on behalf of the two players and issued a statement earlier in the week: "After some soul-searching and deep consideration of their actions during the Nations' Cup, the players believe they overeacted. Nigerians should forgive them for their performance and behaviour in Mali."

However, Borussia Dortmund star Oliseh denied he or Finidi owed the NFA an apology: "If there is any apology to be given by me, it is to the Nigerian people who expected us to bring the Cup back home, which we did not do. But I have no apology to make to any official."

As for playing a role in the World Cup he said that he and Finidi are monitoring developments: "As far as Finidi and myself are concerned, we are watching the situation."
