Skipper Working on Coaching Badges
Friday, 3rd Jun 2016 13:29

Town skipper Luke Chambers is spending this week in Northern Ireland looking to add to his coaching badges.

The 30-year-old, who started working for his badges during his time with Nottingham Forest, is working his his UEFA A License with the Irish Football Association, with whom ex-Blues boss and skipper Jim Magilton is the elite performance director.

Chambers has long-held ambitions to go into management a few years down the line when he has to hang up his boots.

“I want to be a manager when I finish playing, that’s something I’ve thought about and it’s what I want to do,” he told the club site early last year.

“I want to stay in the game and I think I’d be suited to a managerial role.”

I'd advise that he works on his playing badges first.

Future manager. Taking over from MM in 2025. His first task will be defending our position as Champions of England and Europe.

I think Chambers will make a great coach, he's got intelligence on the field and seems a very personable chap.

This can only be good news. Maybe he will learn to do something other than hoof the ball. Mind you how good can these badges be if the hoofball supremo McCarthy has them?

Chambers still has a lot of room for improvement as a defender in my book... Hope he knows

Imagine Chambo in a sharp suit, sprinting down the sideline hurling his iconic fist pump to a victory.
As much as he may seem to lack in ability at times, No one can his passion.

I dream of the day he leads the squad in a fist pump, as we smash in the doors of the premier league. Announcing the return of the Suffolk Punch, I hope in my lifetime I can see Town back in the limelight, as the plucky underdog of English football....

Good luck to him. Can only be good for us to help him bring along some of the young talent we have particularly across the back 4 whilst he's still playing and would love to see him step into a Mark Kennedy type role after he hangs up his boots
