Striker Daniels Signs Scholarship
Monday, 6th Jun 2016 18:49

Striker Declan Daniels has joined the Town academy on a two-year scholarship having been on trial at the end of the season.

Daniels, who was previously with Robbie Fowler’s Merseyside-based Fowler Education and Football Academy and Knowsley Youth, having been a schoolboy at Everton, scored twice in the final U18s game of the season, a 3-1 home victory over QPR.

Having also impressed in a subsequent trial at Liverpool, one of a number of other clubs who have shown interest in signing him, 17-year-old returned to Town for a second spell and played in the U17s tournament the Blues staged at Playford Road last month. Kirkby-born, Liverpool-based Daniels was a midfielder during his time with the Toffees' academy.

Last month, Town added Worthing defender Pat Webber to the 10 previously announced new scholars.

That's what Town fans love to see, a 2 year contract given to a promising talent. Now it's up to the lad to knuckle down & win a full pro contract. Good luck Declan, grab it with both hands.

Lets hope he doesn't pile on the timber and lose his shooting boots like Fowler has. Welcome aboard!
