Town Scouts at Euros
Saturday, 18th Jun 2016 11:45

TWTD understands Town have sent scouts to run the rule over players at Euro 2016 in France.

While members of the competition’s top squads such as Italy, Spain, Germany and hosts France will be well beyond the Blues’ budget, the likes of director of football Dave Bowman and Ian 'Taff' Evans are likely to be eyeing those in action for the smaller nations.

Some of the players at the tournament with teams such as Iceland, Albania, Hungary, Slovakia, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland would be more affordable to Town and other Championship clubs.

Couple of those Iceland defenders wouldn't go amiss!

They are most probably sitting there relaxing in one of Marcus Evans hospitality suites enjoying a Pimms and making matchstick doodles

Could be quite interesting if any names pop up. A lot of the non-favourite teams are doing well this tournament. Especially 4 of the teams making their debuts (Albania not so much). Just hope they don't sign another Hungarian like Bajner or Priskin) or Albanian like Veselli is. Would love to sign Northern Irelands central defender that scored their opening goal ;)

Iceland could have some gems, what we need is another Hermann Hreidarsson :D

They or he/she might as well be scouting in Tim Peakes taxi back to earth the good it will do. Laughable!

Town send scouts to the biggest professional international football tournament currently taking place in the country next to us? Well, I never. Our scouting network knows no bounds.

Its interesting, the style of alot of the smaller nations are using is similar to MM tactics at Town! "Put them under pressure" with 4-5-1/ 4-2-3-1.

I would steer clear of talent at Euros tbh. Any one that impresses will be at a premium ££
Dont think Town (of similar sized clubs) could get good value in this market.

Might not be able to afford most players from the 1st teams, but I'm sure there are one or two warming the bench or from training that look like they're worth a gamble that might impress at championship level. I'm sure the statistitians have already picked out a decent sized list to watch anyway. Cheaper and quicker to watch and mingle with a bunch of players in one tournament than back and forth over a season. Like speed-dating for footee scouts & players.
