Samuelsen Joins Blackburn
Thursday, 25th Aug 2016 12:37

West Ham winger Martin Samuelsen has joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan. Town were among a number of Championship clubs keen on the 19-year-old Norwegian.

Town boss Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor watched Samuelsen in action for the Hammers’ U23s on Monday, while reports from Norway claimed the youngster was close to joining the Blues on a half-season loan.

McCarthy has said he is keen to add a couple of players to his squad before the transfer window closes next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Blues loanee Richard Chaplow has been banned for two games and fined by the United Soccer League for verbally abusing openly gay opponent Robbie Rogers in the game between his club Orange County Blues and LA Galaxy II on Saturday.

Rogers claims he was subject to a repeated "gay slur" during the match but Chaplow denied making such a comment, although admitted using "profane language" in a tweet.

So lad, you're a very promising young player at a Premier League club on the up. Where would you like to go on loan?
I'd like to go to a clusterf*ck of a club who are bottom of the league please.

To be honest it just shows what a small fish we are. Players would rather join the team bottom of the league, than join a team that's been in one division for 15 years with very little to show for it

I don't know how West Ham fans are rating him, as he hasn't played for them yet has he?

Blackburn now have 11 players in their first team capable of playing on the wings. To be honest, that's a massive amount of competition for Samuelson to move into. A massive mistake on his part. He would have walked into our first team. Bet the likes of Feeney, Bennett, Conway and co are not liking the competition either. Can make a negative dressing room when you have too many players fighting for positions.

Whether we were after him or not is debateable but facts are we are playing with a centre back at right back , an out of sort striker as a left winger , strikers who are not scoring and very little creativity or passing ability in the middle of the pitch and seem totally reliant on Ward as we were last year with Fraser and any injury to him will make us bang average as it did last year. Other sides continuing to strengthen in market and we are not despite long term injury to what was reported to be a key player ?

Adam Armstrong was the guy we should have been watching a strker is whet we need so badly and then a rb
We have quite afew midfielders
It does also concern me that I am not sure we are a priority for marcus Evans at the moment - I think he has afew things to sort out closer to home

Money talks does it not, it could have been that we did not meet his valuation. We are slowly getting there, as MM his still looking and we do not require many more good players to give us a boost

How would he have fitted into our team anyway?

Mick obviously prefers the 1 up front (Murphy)..and he loves the Skuse/Douglas combo in midfield..so that leaves us with Bishop,Sears,Ward,Grant,Dozzell,McDonnell,McGoldrick,Bru,Varney,Pitman etc fighting for the forward roles..Samuelson would've been another Maitland_Niles...i'd rather see us giving our own kids game time.

don't worry, we will find someone no one else wants out of contract and on a freebie. Has anyone ever said we were interested in the first place????

It was all a smokescreen
Andy Carroll is really our main target...

Disappointing, I thought we would be the obvious choice being closer to London. As mentioned before it was probably Gamst Pedersen who helped sway him, but he will surely regret a move to Blackburn. Poor guy.

Oh well, moving on then...

Blackburn bottom of the league, signing anyone for the sake of it, more ambition? I'd suggest they're panicking

When I read in the East Anglian yesterday that McCarthy is weighing up whether Samuelson has the necessary work rate he demands, then I thought that was it and so it proved.

Micks delight at signing and playing worhorses is obvious, and was one of the main reasons why season ticket sales were down.

I am hopeful that he will make another signing before the end of the window, which will probably be Leon Best

What are people on about? This has nothing to do with money, other than what percentage of his wages the club are going to pay. The player gets the same money he's earning at his parent club, regardless of who he signs for. Braveblue. He was a regular at Peterborough last season and an excellent player, certainly at that level. Would have been a good addition but where would he have played? With ward , Grant on left, don't see her have got much game time here, which is prob why he's gone to Blackburn, who need all the help they can get

Gutted, this lad looked highly talented. He might of made a real difference, but now we'll never know. Plus a big kick in the teeth to hear he's gone to Blackburn who are hardly pulling up trees!

Itfcrealist. Talking rubbish again. Mm has said we didn't try to sign him. So he didn't pick Blackburn over us. Why not make sure of ur facts before spouting off. At least then ull be talking from a position of strength.
