McCarthy: Right-Back Decision Not Hard to Make
Monday, 17th Oct 2016 06:00

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says it wasn’t a hard decision to move skipper Luke Chambers back to right-back at Blackburn on Saturday but that it wasn’t a reflection on youngster Josh Emmanuel’s performances in the previous two games, more the additional qualities he believes his captain brings to his team.

Emmanuel, 19, had played against Brighton and Huddersfield prior to the international break, Chambers having moved into the centre alongside Christophe Berra while Adam Webster and Tommy Smith were both out injured.

With Webster available again after his hamstring problem, was it a tough to opt to leave the academy product on the bench at Ewood Park?

“No, because it was the right thing to do,” said McCarthy, whose defenders have recorded four cleans sheets in the last six games.

“It was hard because he’s played well, but it’s not because I’m not leaving Chambo out. He’s a real leader on the pitch, he’s my captain, the team captain, they all call him 'Skip', they all look up to him.

“Is he the best right-back in the league? No, but I tell you what, he’s different class for us. I don’t think I’m going to achieve anything more [without him in the team]. It's what you're going to attain, are you going to get anything better?

“Does a decision like that - and that’s what I’m paid for - does it create more problems than it solves? And I think it does. So no, it wasn’t a hard decision because he’s been different class, Chambo.”

McCarthy says it’s what his captain gives to the team overall rather than simply a matter of the position he's playing in.

“With players, it’s an emotional game,” McCarthy continued. “People sit in the stands and they have favourite players and they want them to play.

“It’s what they bring to the team, it’s what they bring to the whole team, not just that one position. And that’s with everybody.

“And Chambo brings a whole lot of stuff to the team. And over and above all that, he’s a proper bloke, he gets everybody else motivated, he’s great.”

Meanwhile, the U23s take on Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this evening (KO 7pm).

ROFL! More vintage dinosauric deluded drivel! Will it ever cease I wonder? =(
So in that regard I believe it might be in it's place to remind some of the FRUSTRATED fans here a thing or two ..... so voila a little flashback to January 2014: Already back then , i.e. some loooong 32 months ago!, The Dinosaur send out this here unmistakably loud and clear message to the ITFC faithfuls: "FRUSTRATED FANS CAN FU@K OFF!!!"

(The direct quote, which went absolutely 'viral' btw, was of course this here Evergreen:"Some people might be frustrated with that result? Some people can f**k off!”.... which was his blunt reply when a reporter suggested some fans might be “frustrated” with the 1-1 draw and result at Elland Road.)

Subsequently The Dinosaur has of course reiterated his outright overall CONTEMPT for ITFC fans inputs several times, most often with his arrogant Yorkshire trademarklike "... I don't give a flying fu@k" [about YOU the fans' assessments, opinions or intelligence]!!!
So there you have it folks, it you didn't already know basically it doesn't matter one penny what it is you specifically is "frustrated" or fed-up with currently, being that The Dinosaur ALWAYS setting up for a draw (although he obviously wouldn't directly mind us somehow mugging/nicking all 3 points from a setpiece), or his constant favorization of certain of his pets like Captain Calamity, Snooze Doggy Douglas and WhatsMyExSkuse -- which include keeping them on the field for all 90+ minutes!!! -- at the expense of fast, skillful and creative younger players, or simply the ultra boring to literally excruciating kind of Hedgehog Football we practice under The Dinosaur , with all the negative things it carries with it including generally between only 1 to 3 shots "on target" (unless you face the likes of lowly Blackburn of course!)!!!
.......... So the bottomline is this: I 100% agree completely with the likes of @dirtydingus that everything from mere complaining on chat-boards, to open letters to ANTI-MIck banners, ANTI-Mick shouting and ANTI-Mick songs in or around the stands will have absolutely NOOOO effect on neither arrogant Mick himself nor likely on his employer the football-clueless, tax-benefit-fixated, alleged-crooked and turned-Scrooge-impersonation known as ME!!! The one and only thing that will ever have an resounding effect, especially with Mr. Evans, is to STAY AWAY!!! [No matter how unfaithful & unfanlike this might seem to some of your die-hard fans and already paid season-ticket holders].

Obviously and no matter of all the many discussed flaws with Mick and his dispositions and the in general undeniable poor quality & no-value-for-money of the 'dross' we are being served, Mick's ITFC will eventually find their way into the win column again!, deservedly or undeservedly, and upcoming opponents like Burton and Rotherham at home is as good a 'pray' as they come in the Championship mind you! So even though some of your fed-up fans might easily feel "reinvigorated" with just a couple of home wins I must warningly repeat: You wholeheartedly want a CHANGE of football here??? I.E. McCarthy gone not only before 2020 (contract option!) but as soon as possible??? Well then hurt ME where even he 'eventually' will have to take action, namely financially, so STAY AWAY and even if we do occasionally win (over the lowly likes of Burton and Rotherham) please keep STAYING AWAY .... until The Dinosaur is no more!!!

Oi Evans employee responsible for checking social media. Tell the boss the natives are restless. Attendances will continue to fall and next years season ticket sales will plummet while you continue employing this pompous arrogant manager.

Just proves however crap the performances are, if you're one of MM favourites it's a guarantee you'll play. Do the youngsters have any faith in the manager, chances are they don't?

Nobody is asking for him to drop Chambers but just to play him in his right position and not to the detriment of the team. This spiteful attitude of his is clearly costing us dear going on the last 12 months' results and it sends out a message to better younger and hungrier players that your manager's knowledge of tactics you could write on the back of a stamp and no matter what you do, you'll never get in.Emmanuel should just hand in a transfer request and leave.Shocking, shocking treatment and not befitting a pub team manager let alone a championship team manager. Sir Bobby must be turning in his grave..... mm should have left a year ago after the Portsmouth FA Cup debacle...he has no bottle for a fight and in previous blogs, I have maintained this position steadfastly. Shocking, shocking...

Micks really lost it, doting about Chambers.

It sounds like Micks sitting in a rocking chair, holding a Chambers action figure doll to his chest and with a tear in his eye - "he's my captain, the team captain, they all call him 'Skip', he's a proper bloke!" *sniff*

"They call him 'Skip'!" *sobbing*

lmfao!

Ok Pragmatic. You want objective !!! Who is a better RB. Chambers or Josh. Josh played 2 games. Against Brighton he was MoM against a top 6 team with 2 of the best wingers in the division. Against Huddersfield, the league leaders he was again outstanding and would have been part of another clean sheet if it wasn't for an error by our centre back ( no names mentioned )

It is totally clear to see which player gives us more as an attacking force and who makes less errors. It's obvious who has more pace, more positional awareness at FB ( because he is a FB ) and also the more potential.

To drop someone after that is disgusting and gives none of our upcoming lads hope of games. And all because "he's different class"

Mick. You have totally lost the fans (as will be shown by the depressing crowd against Burton - may be helped by the ticket promotion at the game , although even £10 is too much to watch this current team ) you will soon lose the dressing room if you continue to select "good blokes" over good players and hopefully PLEASE you will soon lose the support of the board. Another 30 odd 0-0 results will. It be enough go NOW before it's too late !!!

Objective enough Pragmatic ??? You carry on with your head in the sand and you're as big an imbecile as Mick !!!

Prebbs007.
A great post and I agree with you 100%.Just what incentive does this give out to our younger lads,i.e.;Josh,Dozzell and a few others. You cannot keep playing Chambers,Douglas, and skuse because as MM says they are his experienced players. They well may be but there Bl...dy useless.
I await with baited breath the team changes for tomorrow night,or should I say,"same old, same old." I bet the crowd will be under 15,000.! Or there abouts.

Starting to lose the will to type in relation to anything Mick says...as I know a very large % of the time I'll disagree with him.

What's happened to Blueboy? haven't seen one of his posts in ages, perhaps he's feeling the same.

He's right, it's not a hard decision to make. Emmanuel has been playing well and not done anything wrong so you keep picking him at right back.

Win lose or draw tomorrow, MMs time at Ipswich is surely coming to an end. This sort of arrogance is isolating the fans even further. Time for Evans to act.

You've forgotten that 12k supporters have either paid in full for their season ticket already or paying 'monthly'. I don't think ME will be that bothered, contrary to popular belief, I think he'll be hurting at the missing thousands of supporters who have already decided not to attend who aren't season ticket holders, can't blame them either!
Stop paying loses one's favourite seat, not ideal!
Comforting thought, I'll still be here when MM's gone...........whenever that'll be!

This beloved Club of ours is now totally past the joke - how ANYONE can condone the present state of affairs is beyond me.

Local Football beckons for sure right now - and the only chance of change is to boycott, and let the footfall, yes footfall, do the talking.

Won't be posting again - but just had to say the above in despair.

@1RWR

No I did in fact not forgot about them 10-12k supporters who have either paid in full for their season tickets already or those paying 'monthly..... but A) but while I STRONGLY encourage those to stay way too in protest (as very visible and very telling sections of empty seats , especially the 'good' ones' are a very frightful sight to ANY owner & board, regardless of how otherwise football-clueless they might be!), but B) I was mainly arguing for what is the only resounding positive effect "in the long run" i.e. meaning beyond this calendar year and beyond this season. A season in which I firmly believe Mick's ITFC will stay clear of real relegation troubles regardless of how many 0-0 or scoring draws they might pull out of always-playing-for-a -draw Mick The Magician's Hat, as not only are there a handful of teams truly more awful playing and more inheritingly dysfunctional than us but most if not all of them are a lot less solid defensively ..... basically for the simple reason that they don't play with 6+ at the back and at least 10 men behind the ball whenever the opposition is going forward!!! lol

You are obviously entitled to your opinion but this here "you loses one's favourite seat, if not paying .... and thus not going" imho VAIN argument, is simply water not only on Milne &Evans's mill (from a financial perspective, and thus not making them act anytime soon to sack our ultra fandisrespcting manager!) but also in some way water on the beyond deluded suffering from 'Delusion of Grandeur' and other disturbing mental conditions The Anti-Footballing Dinosaur's mill, since it will simply keep him and his prehistoric sidekick TC in their job HERE longer!

So as I say before: Anyone who wholeheartedly want a CHANGE of football here??? I.E. McCarthy gone BEFORE 2020??? Please STAY AWAY then! .... including whether you have already paid or not, and also whether we occasionally "nick" a win or not! Period!
