Free Coach Travel for Forest Game for Fans Who Were at Lincoln
Thursday, 19th Jan 2017 14:14

Town are offering the 1,100 fans who made the trip to Lincoln for Tuesday’s FA Cup replay defeat free coach travel to the final game of the season at Nottingham Forest on Sunday 7th May.

Owner Marcus Evans made the decision to make the offer following the humiliating 1-0 defeat to the Vanarama National League leaders, the Blues’ first FA Cup loss to non-league opposition since Peterborough won 3-2 at Portman Road in January 1960, also at the third round stage.

“Everybody at the club is hurting, Mick, the players, the staff and, of course, our fantastic fans,” MD Ian Milne told the club site.

“We need the continued backing from the supporters, especially in difficult times and we appreciate the time and money they spend following the team. We hope that this gesture goes some way to showing that.

“Our season has been disappointing so far culminating in the defeat at Lincoln but there have been encouraging signs recently in the league and hopefully we can get back to winning ways at Huddersfield at the weekend. The fans can have a big part to play in that - as they always do.”

Full details of how travel vouchers for the visit to the City Ground can be redeemed will be announced in due course.

They just don't get it do they...... free coach travel..... the club should be doing this kind of thing on the last away game anyway, as a thank you to all those who have been to away games this season. If they were really sorry, they'd be giving the fans who went to Lincoln a free ticket to the Forest game.

Surely a refund of money would be a better gesture. Giving a free ride to watch another sh1t Performance is surely punishing the fans even more. Makes your feel like you have go to benefit from It! Another own goal I think

Pathetic.
Seriously, they must have thought long and hard about this and that's what they came up with.

Now we know why the club rarely says anything, because what they say is meaningless.

Away days are not just about the travel. They are about the trip there, the tomfoolery, the craic and a few beers along the way. From my only experience of the Galloway those would be frowned upon. I'd be happier with a refund. So the club would be light the £11k they got instead of paying for 20-25 coaches.

And once again, what about the fans who live 250 miles away from Ipswich and just as far from Lincoln and incur huge expense getting to Portman Road for home games?

A gesture via match tickets would treat everyone fairly.

That really sums up the term "token gesture".
