Reports today say Everton manager has also sounded George Burley out regarding a move for Blues' skipper Matt Holland. Yesterday we reported that Moyes had enquired about striker Marcus Stewart, offering a cash-plus-player deal and it seems Holland was also discussed.

Moyes is short of cash and at present can only bring in players as others leave, with Gary Naysmith thought to be amongst the players he wants rid of.

Town, however, are only interested in cash deals, with transfers needed to help make up the £15 million shortfall caused by relegation.

Town's surprise return to the UEFA Cup will make up some of this, as will reducing the wagebill with the exit of high earners like Matteo Sereni, but the rest will have to come from transfer fees.

Holland and Stewart are rated at around the £5 million mark by Town, although the Town captain's value is likely to have increased after his good performances at the World Cup.

Holland has said he wants to stay at Portman Road, while it is understood that Stewart is less happy after being left out of the side in the latter stages of the season.

Both players have been linked to a number of Premiership clubs since the season's end. See the Rumour Mill for more details: " target="_blank">http://www.twtd.co.uk/rumourmill.
