Redknapp Keen on Town Job
Thursday, 26th Apr 2018 09:43

Much-travelled veteran boss Harry Redknapp has expressed his interest in the Town job.

The 71-year-old, who is known to be a friend of Marcus Evans and is understood to have been one of those the Blues owner took advice from when appointing previous bosses, said he’d be keen on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT and urged Evans to call him.

“It’s a real good club and I know the owner Marcus Evans. He’s got my number and I’m here Marcus!” he said.

How serious Redknapp might be about taking on the Town job or another management role elsewhere remains to be seen having hinted at retirement after leaving Birmingham in September last year.

Either way, despite the connection with Evans, Redknapp, whose other previous clubs include the Hammers, Tottenham, Portsmouth (twice) , Southampton, QPR and AFC Bournemouth as well as the Jordanian national team, seems highly unlikely to be a leading contender to take over at Town. More on the current speculation regarding the Blues manager's job here.

Seasider- that's spot on, the first thing I thought after “This won't happen” is that it's great Redknapp doesn't seem to be getting consulted. He would only recommend one of his mates or his nephew. I'd be happier if he was chatting to Woy Hodgson who probably had a far better insight into coaching and who the up and coming ones are from his time with the FA and England. Harry is very Eton or Harrow... Old School 😉

The last time God spoke to someone in a position of power we invaded Iraq so maybe it's good he isn't comming Monkey.

Based on current info I am crossing fingers in the following order.

Steijn

Cook

Hurst

Shefqui

With wild cards.... Potter who I dont think we can get and this White chap who comes across well...... that said Steve Keane has had success in Asia which worries me coz if he can then I can and I am NOT the man to lead our new golden era.

Although my fantasy football record speaks for itself.

Hahaha I know a few Pompey fans they actually hate the man as he totally linched them as he made let's say quite a bit of money out of certain signings the club made and seriously it has to be a joke?

Lets be realistic - this guy cannot justifiably be ridiculed other than by people who don't know that much about the game. His overall knowledge and experience of the game cannot be questioned, his record is pretty impressive too. They don't come with much more knowledge and experience than him.

Having said that, I personally would not see his appointment as Manager of our Club, as any more than a complete waste of time - DOF maybe, but definitely not Manager - he is not what we need right now at all.

There will be NO shortage of applicants for our Managers position - ME will have impressed even more since his open interview, and what he had to say. The applications will continue to roll in.

Don't like to mention MM anymore BUT - he had one of the very best jobs in Football with us - one day, perhaps even now, he will realise what a plonker he was in how he conducted himself, which ended with no other possible outcome.

Doubtful, for all his bravado, that other than in desperation, will he be offered another Managers job in the game - nothing worthy of comparison to what he had here anyway,

We have much to still be proud of. Come on you Blues.

Some would do best to engage brain .... !!! - before opening mouth / hitting the Keyboard.

Whatever people's opinions are of individuals- words such as 'crook' - should not be used.

It takes all sorts, I guess - as we'll all find out next year ..... !!!
