Croft Can Go - Burley

George Burley says that Town will not stand in the way of Gary Croft leaving, should another club come in for him. The 28-year-old defender has made only 37 appearances for the Blues since joining for £540,000 from Blackburn in September 1999.

Full-back Croft, who had loan spells at Wigan and Cardiff last season, said in mid-May that he would be keen to continue his career elsewhere after playing an extremely limited role at Portman Road, especially in the last two years. Croft has one more year left on his Town contract.

Both Wigan and Cardiff were thought to be interested in signing the ex-Grimsby player permanently after his loan spells, but subsequently cooled in their interest.

Wigan felt that the £400,000 which Town were after for him at the time was too high, while Cardiff decided they weren't interested once they had failed to gain First Division status through the play-offs.
