Jackson Set to Complete Move on Thursday
Wednesday, 8th Aug 2018 18:29

Striker Kayden Jackson is expected to complete his move from Accrington Stanley to the Blues on Thursday morning with the transfer window closing at 5pm that evening.

As reported earlier, Jackson, 24, has been at Portman Road this afternoon to undergo his medical and talk personal terms, which are understood to be a three-year deal with an option for a further season, the clubs having agreed a £1.6 million initial fee with top-ups potentially taking the deal to around £2 million. Accrington will receive a percentage of any future profit the Blues make on the Bradford-born frontman.

It's anticipated that all the loose ends relating to the move will be tied up by the morning when Jackson will become Paul Hurst’s ninth signing of the summer.

No other deadline deals currently look close to being confirmed but the Blues are continuing to look for additional recruits, most notably another central defender.

Long-time target Curtis Tilt has proved impossible to prise from Blackpool and we understand Town are actively sounding out other alternative signings.

However, with the deadline getting closer, it may be that the Blues end up bringing in another centre-half on loan after the deadline with EFL clubs allowed to loan players until the end of August. There is the facility for those signings to be made with a view to being made permanent switches in January.

Jonas Knudsen and Joe Garner are the current members of the Town squad whose futures have been the subject of most speculation.

Stoke and Middlesbrough are believed to be keen on the Danish international - with Town said to view Rangers’ Declan John as a potential replacement - while Bolton are understood to be continuing their pursuit of Garner.

Reports in Scotland this morning claimed Town had made a £1.2 million offer to Rangers for midfielder Josh Windass, although it may be that the Blues may not look to progress their interest now that Jackson has signed or unless Garner moves on.

Boss Paul Hurst is holding his regular pre-match press conference at 1.30pm tomorrow - which will be live on TWTV - when he should be able to give an update on the situation going into the final few hours of the window.

If that's the final bit of business we make before the deadline i would have to say it's been a very promising window. I would love either of Tilt or Windass too mind you!!!

A very good window for us, after Jackson we're pretty much ready to go we've covered most bases maybe a cb to top it off ?? We do need cover there and not a loan

Bit of a daft question but if we got Windass where would he slot into the starting 11

Nolan will sit behind the 3 of Edwards, Harrison and Jackson. Trevoh will sit in front of the back 4 I assume so that leaves 1 spot.Would he drop Skuse for Windass. Thought he played left side (could be wrong there but don't think so) so that leaves him where.

Just curious probably because guess the line up could become a great pre match game!

Phil, anything on Windass or was that cover in case Jackson not done?

Windass prefers playing just behind the striker rather than being on a wing.

Not sure but I think probably a contingency as you say. Something in it definitely but not sure it's going to happen now.

People seem to be missing the major factor here that in McGoldrick, Garner, Waghorn we have lost over 30+ goals from the team and replaced them with league 1 & 2 level replacements. My prediction sadly is that none of them will come anywhere close to that combined figure this season, leaving us hoping that the better quality midfielders like Huws get fit enough to contribute to the goals!!!!!

Good news. Of course securing both Tilt and Windass would be the icing on an already tasty cake.

Might end up getting Windass on loan, with option of perm move in January. Possibly suit all parties. As for Tilt, would imagine he's totally hacked off by Oyston's total intransigence. In comparison, ME's been made by Carlsberg!

It's an exciting new dawn, we need numbers to challenge each other, i think coming here with our tradition, support and expectation will bring the best out of these players. They will want to impress. After 17 years of a season ticket I gave up last year but back with renewed optimism.
We may not be top but am sure we'll be better and more entertaining

Good news. If Garner goes then we need a replacement. However, priority for tomorrow must now be a CB surely?

Wooly or wally!
Come on man - it's new and exciting!
Mcgoldrick has hardly kicked a ball, Waggy has given us a huge profit and Garner is very replaceable.
In Paul we trust....

I don't mind loaning a centreback. Think decent premiership ones are two a penny. However forwards and mid fielders are harder to find so glad we got them in on a permanent.

This is how I think Hurst will line up his first choice team from the current squad (fully fit players only)
Bart
Donasian - Nsiala - Chambers - Knudsen
Chalobah - Skuse
Edwards - Nolan - Edun
Jackson

I think he sees Jackson and Harrison competing for the one place.
I'm sure he wants more cover at CB where, as I said elesewhere, the two named CB's are both weak on their left and lack great pace. If Windass came he could take Edun's wide role.
Personally I'd love to see at least one of our 3 academy youngsters (Dozzell, Nydam, Downes) included every game. I'd prefer to be giving game time to these lads than to loanees but I'm very happy with what Hurst has done and have faith in his decisions.

It's all been very exciting to see the new faces come in but sad to see a few go, hopefully Mr Hurst knows what he's doing (I'm sure he does). Can't wait to see the new players all on the pitch but we have to be patient it's going to take time for them all to get to know one another hopefully it won't take too long. COYB

The Blackpool Gazette are reporting that the Tilt deal is dead, principally because Oyston won't let him go.

So it looks like TILT-GAME OVER.
Shame as I really liked the look of this lad.

Where do our OWN lads fit into all this .....?

I still think there's a chance to get tilt tomorrow if garner goes what team wants a player who doesn't wants to be there and deny a player to step up a league

Interesting to see how he will fit Harrison & Jackson into the side together I personally love both (the tiny amount I've seen of Jackson) .. both seem to be number 9s. My only guess is Jackson will play wide left as every team has to play with 3 central midfielders these days!! Can't wait until Saturday too see how it all unfolds! Exciting times once again

Backwaywhen- i presume our own lads will fit in if they are good enough. Dozzell Wooly Downes seem to be the only boys knocking on the door, it's a very long season. Our other lads need to get out the physio room.

Great business. However, having seen him? I feel Ben Morris may step up to the mark.Bit more concerned about Woolfenden supplementing the CB positions. Will all take time. And that's fine.

I'm REALLY excited about the types of player Hurst is bringing to the Vlib . We'd hsvd never had this in s million years under McCarthy !

The only thing we must accept is , you can't hring in 9-10 players and expect them to “ gel” in a short period of time. This is very much a transitional season now. But hopefully s very entertaining one from a footballing aspect . Bloody hell sn Ipseich Town team is going to ATTACK for the first time in over a decade . I can't bloody wait !!!!!
