Hurst: Nydam Should Benefit from St Johnstone Move Wednesday, 29th Aug 2018 18:02 Town manager Paul Hurst hopes 18-year-old midfielder Tristan Nydam will play regularly and therefore make progress during his half-season loan at St Johnstone “He’s a player that I think a lot of,” Hurst said of the Zimbabwe-born, Colchester-raised England U19 international. “A very young lad that should have a long, long career in the game. “He burst on to the scene last year really and played probably more than you would have thought someone that age would have done. Maybe circumstances dictated that as well. “He worked hard in pre-season but with the midfield players we’ve got and have been brought in I didn’t want to stop his progress by him just playing U23s football, which, although he’s still quite a way under that age, I didn’t feel that would be the best way forward for him. “In fairness to Tristan, I liked his attitude about it when we spoke and he wants to go and play competitive football. “St Johnstone isn’t on the doorstep, so credit to the young man for wanting to do that and I hope that he can go up there, get lots of minutes under his belt and really progress.”
