Fans Asked to Pay Respects to Beattie at Portman Road
Tuesday, 23rd Oct 2018 17:22

The family of Blues legend Kevin Beattie, who died last month aged 64, are asking fans to pay tribute at Portman Road ahead of his funeral on Friday rather than at the crematorium.

The funeral procession will pass by the Sir Bobby Robson statue in Portman Road at around 2.30pm and Beattie’s family have politely requested that supporters salute the man viewed as the club’s greatest ever player there.

Space is limited at the crematorium and parking restrictions set to be put in place with the funeral service for family, close friends and ex-team-mates of the former England international.""

The book of condolence will remain in Planet Blue until 3.15pm on Friday for those who have not already signed it.

Unfortunately I wasn't old enough to see this legend in action but I wish his family all the best.

Will be there for sure.

Just to sum up the rotten luck KB had he had to pull out of an under 21 tour when about 17 because of glandular fever-----sadly his luck never changed and should have had 109 caps for England.
