Sears Making Good Progress
Friday, 14th Jun 2019 19:28

Striker Freddie Sears is progressing well as he recovers from the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered at Norwich in February.

The 29-year-old is expected to be sidelined for between nine and 12 months.

“Freddie received good reports after seeing the specialist at the three-month follow-up after surgery,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He is at the strength and conditioning stage at the moment and gaining strength all the time.

“We anticipate him stepping up to the AlterG work in the next couple of weeks. There is obviously a long way to go but he is making good progress.”

Tough injury both physically and mentally to overcome, but he'll be back stronger. All the best and we look forward to you terrorising defences soon enough.

Freddie is a good footballer & can be a goalscoring forward, when played up through the centre alongside a strike partner. That is the case in the Championship & certainly will be in Division 1. Confidence is of course an issue with him, but he's a genuine & hard working professional. I like him & hope we see him back to his best. He'll do his best wherever he plays, but his impact is lessened when out of position.

Thanks for the update on FREDDIE, he is the type of player we need at this club, honest and hard working.

Has always exhibited great determination and enthusiasm to contribute to the team ; we must hope none of those qualities are dimmed ,though it seems unlikely. What WILL be most significant is his physical recovery and renewal of stamina ; but with his underlying fitness we shall justifiably look forward eagerly to his return !

Freddie happens to be both my daughters favourite Town player, I shouldn't pimp them out but as a single parent getting them to come along to Portman Road to watch Freddie means I get to go too!
Good to hear about Freddie's recovery, I feel he's going to be very useful for us this season.

I would feel a lot better about our chances next season with a fully fit Sears from the off. Glad to hear he's on the mend though think he will be pivotal when he gets back in the team around New year time

It's not Freddie I'm concerned about. It's the sicknote midfielder, who has been out so long i can't spell his name !!!!

Good news about Freddie i think if he hadn't got injured other club's could have been in for him although his goal scoring record hasn't been great last couple of seasons probably due to the Mick McCarthy curse great striker so I'll play him wide on the left.

A very nasty injury and certainly better not rushed. Gradual build up of work up to the point it is properly healed is the only way to go. Freddie and Norwood could be very good together if the midfield steps up and provides decent service to feet. Best of luck Freddie ......

Good to hear Freddy is doing ok but we will pretty much need to forget about him this season as if he returns after Xmas it will take him the rest of the season to get up to speed .

If he had a full season in league 1, he could easily be pushing for top goal scorer. Always rated sears. Let's hope for a full recovery and 20+ goals
