New Partnership Aims to Get More Youngsters Active
Friday, 26th Jul 2019 10:52

Town have launched a new partnership with Ipswich Borough Council Sport and Leisure Service aimed at getting more young people active which will see the club delivering more activities in the local community.

The partnership kicks off with 13 free to access summer multi-sport camps as part of the Council’s free summer holiday sports programme.

Places will be free to anyone aged between seven and 14 and, to ensure young people receive a healthy meal during the holidays, lunch will be included.

The scheme will also see the Borough Council’s Sport and Leisure service deliver a broader range of sports, activities and games at Ipswich Town home games this season in the award-winning FanZone. There will also be iCard membership discounts for Junior Blue members.

Councillor Bryony Rudkin, deputy leader, said: “This is a very exciting partnership and will enable both of us to deliver a lot more activities and help in our aim to get young people more active — and occupied — especially during the summer break.”

Lee O’Neill, Town’s general manager of football operations, added: “This is an excellent partnership that furthers the club's links in the community, which is something we're always looking to improve.

“Especially during the summer holidays, it is important that we're engaging with youngsters and keeping them active."
