Reuser in Charlton Loan Wednesday, 28th Aug 2002 23:01 Town midfielder Martijn Reuser is poised to make a three-month loan move to Charlton Athletic. The Dutchman will play for Town on Thursday in the UEFA Cup qualifying round game with Avenir Beggen in order to prove his fitness to Alan Curbishley. Charlton had attempted to sign Japanese World Cup star Alex but failed to acquire a work permit for the Brazilian-born player. Instead the Addicks have chosen to turn to Reuser. Town manager George Burley told the club site that the Blues are in no position to turn down down the offer: "In view of our financial position, we have agreed to let Martijn join Charlton. "Martijn was keen to get back and play in the Premiership and now he needs to show Charlton what he is capable of doing." Reuser has been suffering with a groin strain and Alan Curbishley wants to see him in action before committing to the deal.
