Burley Pleased With Win

Town boss George Burley was rather more impressed with his side's performance against Brighton on Tuesday night than he had been with their display at Stoke. The Blues fought back after Dean Hammond has scored for the visitors and comfortably won 3-1.

Burley had hit out at his players for a lack of passion during the first half on Sunday, but felt his players got going from the start against Brighton, even after letting in a poor goal: "People expected us to win and the pressure was on us. We carried on where we left off on Sunday after we raised our game

"We passed it well and looked very lively up front, creating a lot of chances. I was very pleased that after we gave a bad goal away we didn't drop our heads and kept our passing. Then we scored three tremendous goals and that has taken us through to the next round.

"It was always going to be hard to keep that going in the second half, especially as that was the third game in five days for the players, so they did well.

"Darren [Bent] might have had another, in fact on another day he might have scored five."

The rest of the Worthington Cup second round ties are held next week with the draw for the third round held on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday the following weekend.
