Burley on Wimbledon
Burley on Wimbledon

Town manager George Burley says he feels it will be harder to get a result against Wimbledon in the emptiness of Selhurst Park than it was in Serbia against Sartid on Thursday.

With Wimbledon fans turning away from their club after the summer's decision to move to Milton Keynes travelling Blues' fans are likely to out-number home supporters by a couple of thousand.

Burley feels that this pre-season atmosphere will make it more difficult: "It will probably be even harder to get a result at Wimbledon than it was at Sartid. The players are used to big noisy crowds and it is not the same when you are playing in front of 2,000 or so. But you have to cope with it.

"There is no doubt when teams come down from the Premiership it takes time to adjust. That is something we have to address and jeep working on to improve our league form.

"As in Sartid we will have to get it tactically right. It is a different style game in Europe than in the Nationwide League and we have to be prepared for it."

Town will be without Fabian Wilnis (hamstring), Hermann Hreidarsson (back) while Mark Venus now could be involved after a calf problem.

Darren Ambrose returns after a foot injury while Chris Makin looks set to make his first league start of the season after impressing against Sartid. Wayne Brown is likely to continue at centre-half against a side he was on loan with last season.

Wimbledon will have former QPR man Jermaine Darlington returning after injury as is Agyemang. Mark Williams is back after suspension. The match will be referees by Mick Fletcher and kicks-off at 2pm.

Town: Marshall, Pullen, Makin, Clapham, McGreal, Brown, Gaardsøe, Magilton, Holland, Wright, Miller, George, Ambrose, Couñago, Bent (Marcus), Bent (Darren), Armstrong and Richards.
