Dyer on Football Racism

Former Town midfielder Kieron Dyer says that in future racially abused players could walk off the field. Dyer was speaking in the wake of a number of incidents at games last week, including Town's match at FK Sartid.

Dyer said: "There is no place for racism in football. If anyone is seen or heard to be making racist comments at a football match then they should be handed a worldwide ban from the game for the rest of their lives.

"Isn't that a great way to stop it happening? There's no doubt other supporters would sit up and take notice and learn to keep their mouths shut."

"One day it will be so bad that a player might just walk off and leave the match behind.

"Football goes out of the window when people start calling you every name under the sun. There could come a time when a manager asks his whole team to leave the pitch in protest.

"But we have to try to stop the problem before it gets that bad.

"If it ever happened to me I wouldn't give in. I'm the sort of person who would be even more determined. Any racist abuse would give me an extra 10pc, if only to prove people wrong."
