Jackson and John-Jules Start Against Derby
Friday, 21st Oct 2022 19:13

Town boss Kieran McKenna has made two changes from the team which was beaten 1-0 by Lincoln last Saturday for this evening’s live Sky game against Derby County at Portman Road.

Kayden Jackson looks set to replace Freddie Ladapo, who is on the bench, as the lone central striker with Tyreece John-Jules in for Conor Chaplin, also a sub, as one of the number 10s.

Former Derby skipper Richard Keogh is on the bench, along with youngster Cameron Humphreys.

The Rams make one change to the team which won 3-0 at Accrington last week with Korey Smith replacing the injured Jason Knight in midfield.

Former Blues David McGoldrick, Conor Hourihane, Richard Stearman and Scott Loach are all on the bench.

Town: Walton, Donacien, Woolfenden, Edmundson, Burns, Evans, Morsy (c), Davis, John-Jules, Harness, Jackson. Subs: Hladky, Keogh, Ball, Humphreys, Edwards, Chaplin, Ladapo.

Derby: Wildsmith, Chester, Cashin, Barkhuizen, Bird, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Sibley, Dobbin, Osula, Davies (c). Subs: Loach, Forsyth, McGoldrick, Roberts, Thompson, Stearman, Hourihane. Referee: Lee Swabey (Devon).

Surprised JJ has a starting place after that glaring miss on Saturday and would have started Chaplin rather than Harness...

Double award winning and leading goal scorer Chaplin now 3rd in the pecking order for a 10 slot ???? And please just one person tell me that's squad rotation when we desperately need a 3 points and Chaplin hauled off after 60 mins in most of his games anyway

Weak up front. Chaplin should start.

The general implication seems to be that WE as ‘casual ‘ observers and supporters know better than KM who has to date a rather impressive record in everything Ipswich Town FC .Individual performers will inevitably experience periods of lesser influence, lower energy OR be deigned better suited to an impact role , or replaced because opposition strengths / strategy dictates changes are desirable !
What's vital is that everyone on the side contributes fully whenever the opportunity dictates .
DO let's stay positive whilst offering'critique ‘ !

Yes suffolkboy he has done well but there are too many of you going wild about his every move so really no reason for a few doubting voices to debate where further improvement might be made
