Chaplin, who has netted 13 goals overall in 2022/23, grabbed four in December as well as an assist.

Chaplin, 25, has also been nominated for the December League One PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month.

He should also be in the league one team of the year at the end of the season! Could easily be our supporters player of the year!

Yes he's added consistency to his game this season. Whether he can do it in the championship is a different matter but he is improving all the time under McKenna. The gap between league one and championship is massive, Whittaker has been outstanding for Plymouth but can't get anywhere near the Swansea first team. Hirst also struggled in the championship. As Terry Butcher said there's probably only 2 or 3 players at the club who might be championship standard. It's down to owners on how much money they are prepared to invest if we get promoted but it could require up to 20 million. A lot of fans are not going to be happy when their favourites get moved on next season.

Not sure I totally agree with that... yes it will require additions, but look how well Sunderland are doing....

There didn't look to be many differences last Saturday

Spot on Gazelle - anybody watching that would assume Rotherham were the league 1 team

Hmmm…it sure the gap is massive but of course there is a gap. Didn't Chaplin score plenty of goals for Barnsley who finished in the playoffs?

Deserves the award, but won't get it because he plays for Ipswich. This together with the manager award will go to Plymouth. But somehow I think that will be the end of Plymouths awards this season

Linkboy spot on. He's a great player at this level but didn't get a starting role in the successful Barnsley side. A friend of mine played in that side and said he would be a good signing for a league one team and he's spot on. I think he's excellent in and around the box but does lack strength in possession and goes missing too much. That said he's one of our top performers in the final third this season.New additions will add competition which is needed

Don Goodman on the judging panel. No chance an Ipswich player will win then.

Everything u just said is untrue marinasnose. Chaplin played 44 games scoring 11 goals and then 34 times scoring 4. Both in championship so was a constant in the side for two seasons. Helps to ascertain facts before making comments 😠

Love Chappers and half hope he wins but football is about team success so ill always look at this with pinch of salt. I remember Robson winning the old manager of the month awards back in the day, CURSE !!

Blueruin he was a backup player fact. That's why he was moved on

78 games in two seasons is not a back up player, learn to accept when you've made a mistake otherwise you just look a fool.

Yes Chaplin was a regular in the Barnsley team but at the time we signed him he was in and out of the team and commented on the poor treatment he got from the club.

Reading Barnsley's notes it says Chaplin's second season was less successful scoring just 4 times and rarely completing 90 minutes under manager Valerian Ismael. In my opinion he's a much improved player under McKenna and im just stating the facts that were published in the Barnsley notes. Sometimes when fans get really attached to a player they cannot do a thing wrong in their eyes and like to twist things to back their argument. Personally i don't have a favourite player but always give credit when it's due and Chaplin in my opinion has become one of our crucial players this season.
