Olympics Come to Town? Friday, 6th Dec 2002 10:57 Olympic football could come to Portman Road in 2012 if London is awarded the games. The National Olympic Committee have approached the club regarding use of the venue. A spokesperson for the British Olympic Association says that they have approached 52 clubs and have had an encouraging response from Town. The Olympic football tournament is played between U23 sides, although teams are allowed three overage players. Town look certain to host a full England international in August of next year when Sven-Goran Eriksson's men face Croatia, although the FA are yet to confirm this.
