Town have confirmed that John Scales had a medical at Portman Road today and will announce the result tomorrow. Scales himself has been saying how much he relishes the opportunity Town have given him: "The thought of living and playing in London by joining Wimbledon was a mouth-watering one. It was where I started my career and I have great respect for their manager Terry Burton. But the pull of the Premiership is a strong one. I've played more than 500 games in my career, the majority in the top flight and I want to stay there. I hope this initial one-year deal will be the start of an even longer career with Ipswich. This is an exciting opportunity for me."

Meanwhile two Ipswich legends are looking for clubs. Mickey Stockwell is still to find a new deal despite feelers being put out both by the club and Mickey himself. Also without a club is John Wark, released from his position as Chief Scout at Portsmouth last season. The Town stalwart seemed to have been promised the job of Chief Scout at Coventry after meeting Gordon Strachan last month at a football tournament in Hong Kong. Wark said: "He gave me all the details of the job and to be honest I thought I'd got it." Strachan, however, had other ideas and gave the job to his former Aberdeen team-mate Mark McGhee. Rumours recently had linked Wark with a move to Graeme Souness' Blackburn.
