US Owners at Portman Road
Monday, 12th Jun 2023 11:11

Two members of the US arm of the Blues’ ownership were at the club on Friday for meetings with CEO Mark Ashton and his management team.

Ed Schwartz, the CEO of ORG, the US investment firm which manages funds on behalf of the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), the Blues' ultimate majority shareholder, and Mark Steed, the chief investment officer of PSPRS, met with Ashton, chief operating officer Luke Werhun and other staff at Portman Road.

The long-planned meeting is understood to have been arranged as Steed (pctured above) and Schwartz were in the country last week and was part of the regular ongoing discussions between the US and UK wings of the club as the Blues look ahead to the 2023/24 campaign.

The Town players are back at Playford Road for the start of pre-season training on Monday 26th June.

this will have been a budget meeting - no doubt. Discuss transfer targets, how they fit in and how we balance the spend.

Great to see our ultimate Managers continue to maintain the keenest of interest and enthusiasm .
Progress so far must have met their ambitions, in every respect ; and there's no doubt Portman Road has become and is still becoming a most attractive place to belong and watch football ( and other things too in the future ).

Good to read that they were in the country anyway and didn't just fly over for one meeting, although I wonder what other business interests they have in the UK.
I hope our squad won't start using flights for matches, at least not until we get back into European competition ;)

SpiritOfJohn - Town already are taking flights to some away matches, Burnley away in the FA Cup being one. I believe ironically it was after green weekend which encouraged fans to think more sustainably

This will have been the final meeting on money, MA wil have already agreed his budget request with Berke, Brett and Mark but these two fellas write the ultimate cheques.
I would assume with this meeting now done and the window opening soon we can expect some business to be done shortly

Our owners and investors visit frequently for pleasure and business whist Man. City's owner has attended only two of their games since 2008. Says it all !!
