Robins Chasing Town Target Taylor
Thursday, 15th Jun 2023 13:04

Bristol City are reportedly among the other Championship clubs eyeing long-time Town target Jack Taylor, who is expected to leave Peterborough this summer.

The Blues have been keen on the 24-year-old since last summer and made a number of bids in January, offering close to £2 million for the Irish U21 international.

As recently reported, Taylor remains on Town’s radar this summer but with Posh director of football Barry Fry having said several second tier clubs are interested.

And, according to Football Insider, Bristol City are one of the other sides keen on Taylor, who has a year left on his contract at London Road.

Meanwhile, former Blues loanee Jonny Williams, 29, has joined Gillingham having left Swindon at the end of the season.

Ex-Town loan keeper Will Norris has signed a three-year deal at Portsmouth having left Burnley. The 29-year-old faced the Blues while on loan at Peterborough last season.

Sometimes I get so sick of hearing a player's name that I hope another team comes in for him and ends the speculation!

Agree, not sure where he would fit in unless we are getting rid of a few midfielders

Remember 9 times out of 10 players linked to Town never come here, it's always one not linked and comes out of the blue

Plenty more players available! Who cares?

From what little I've seen of him I can't see what the fuss is about. I certainly wouldn't be paying anything like £2 million for a League 1 player who only has a year left on his contract.

Having said that McKenna obviously sees something in him or we wouldn't have tried so hard to get him in January.

We need to be looking upwards for players now. Prem or Championship or equivalent abroad. He'd be OK in the team, but not brilliant like some of our signings, especially for the price. We need brilliant now, nothing less.

He can go. Don't see the fuss in him. Pretty tame whenever lve seen him play.

We don't need to get into a race for any player unless KMcK really, really wants that player. Our club is a very attractive proposition so if the player wants to come let him and his agent sort it. The valuation is only what a club puts out there and Posh have history at inflating values. Taylor may or may not be a decent player but he didn't look very comfortable against us in April.

Really don't get some people. While he may not play every week next season if he came here, he would give us something different. And he's still young, so plenty of improvement still to come from him. Which means if luongo leaves at the end of next season , we don't have to go searching for a replacement. So would make perfect sense to sign him. Not saying I'd be exactly heartbroken if we didn't mind you. Sure mckenna will have someone else in mind

Like most others on here I cannot see what all the fuss is about with him.

I wouldn't be unhappy to see us start the season with the squad that finished the last, just replacing Hirst, I think that we would still do well, remember we have players who haven't been really seen yet too because of injury all coming to fitness.

Maybe we should keep our powder dry until Christmas window?

He has one year left on his contract, at the end he can leave for free. Peterborough want a fee now to avoid that so they are talking things up, trying to get an auction going.

Not sure why @algarvefan got down voted. We smashed Rotherham and took Burnley all the way with comments from Vincent Kompany that we were miles better than anyone else the had played last season. Perhaps you are all too young to remember what happened when George Burley ripped the squad apart.

I would like to see and addition player in each area down the spine of the squad. Hirst won't be back. Edmondson has missed a lot of football. Morsy will get more bookings next season.

I agree, Prem fringe players is what we need. Not L1 squad fillers.
