Very harsh tractorboybig. He brought success to our club, unseen since the Bobby Robson years. We were dealt a rotten hand when we were relegated, before the time of big parachute payments. Always struck me as a nice bloke with the best intentions for our club.

Great episode team! Loving the depth of discussion!

I always feel torn when it comes to Sheepshanks. Undoubtedly loves this club and did a lot for us to elevate us and take us to the premier league - providing countless lifelong memories.

But also undoubtedly allowed the financial situation to spiral out of control under his tenure, which resulted in a lot of local people losing their businesses, their jobs and all that entails as a result of months of unpaid bills.

I suppose he's a bit of a marmite fellow!

He took a salary while loads of local businesses never ever got paid by the club. Then instrumental in the Evans takeover...and that went well. Not much of a fan of him to be honest.

Can't agree with you Seablue. He's a true blue, and did everything he could for the club. Relegation from the Premier League combined with other factors outside of the club's control made administration inevitable. It was a terrible time. Ref Marcus Evans - as he said in the podcast, the club desperately needed investment to survive, and multi millionaires weren't exactly queuing up at the time.

Mr. Sheepshanks's reputation as a Blue is not in question, nor his motivation for the decisions he made, but many of those decisions were terrible. He was in charge when we went into administration and started our long slide to the Third Division. He has to take responsibility for that, and as Petersongoal said above, he continued to take a salary out of the club as he was laying off staff who had worked here for years. While those people struggled, he went on to run St. George's Park, no doubt with a nice salary from the FA.

I remember being at an AGM around that time where Phil grilled him about a five-figure bonus he had given himself, and he became increasingly agitated and annoyed with the line of questioning. You didn't see any of that last night. He's a nice guy and a true Blue, but I don't think it's right that he gets to jolly it up with other supporters and criticise Marcus Evans as if it was nothing to do with him.

He was great fun in the town square before the FC Beggen UEFA cup game in Luxembourg.

We were rubbish that day :)))

The Boris Johnson/Alistair Cambell of ITFC, total BS artist who put us into administration blaming everybody else from Burley, Royle, ITV digital when it was his crappy stewardship that gave us Marcus Evans. Never put any of his own money into the club, took all the plaudits when things were going well like Wembley 2000, but jumped ship to take a cushy FA job with his chums at St Georges Park and left us with Marcus Evans He left the club crippled in debt leaving many local businesses being left out of pocket due to his awful management that saw us in administration. Last time i heard he was offering courses in leadership, leadership into how to f your business up but spin it that its not your fault. Utter charlatan.

I was going to the Fulham away game second season in the prem and the district line was suspended, so I ran outside the station to get a cab. It was absolutely hammering down. A man shouted to me from a BMW. He saw my shirt and asked “are you going to the game?, do you want a lift?” That man was David Sheepshanks. He drove me to the game and we chatted all the way there about the team and transfer targets( we wanted Eider Gudjonnson). Absolutely top man and his love and passion for the club poured out of him.
